I've never understood the mentality that just because you're rich, you need to live in a large house. No offense.Piccolo Daimaoh wrote:His house sticks so much lol. Is that really like Toriyama?
It's a really nice house, but -- not to be rude or anything -- Toriyama could be living in a much bigger house, couldn't he? I don't know how much he's worth, but considering what a worldwide phenomenon DB is, it would have to be a whole lot. It's big, definitely, but a mansion? On one hand, I think it says something that the creator of DB lives in a house of that size. But, on the other hand, it stands out like a motherfucker.

Isn't that actually quite a huge house for Japan?
I remember seeing Miyazaki's place in The Kingdom of Dreams and Madness and it was pretty spacious but not enormous.
This seems similar.

By "no offense", I'm assuming that you thought that was something I said in my post. Maybe when I said "Toriyama could be living in a bigger house" you thought I said Toriyama needs to own a house that corresponds to his wealth, or something like that, which I really didn't mean at all. What I meant was given his wealth, one would expect (or at least see the possibility of him having) a bigger house, but he goes against that to his credit, like I said.Gonstead wrote: I've never understood the mentality that just because you're rich, you need to live in a large house. Yeah, this seems like a very valid point, but I don't know much about Japan, so I can't speculate.AjayLikesGaming wrote:Isn't that actually quite a huge house for Japan?

Well Toriyama has always believed bigger doesn't make better. And besides, this actually shows he knows how to spends his money. He gets a mansion that's big but not unnecessarily big. I mean if the house that already lives in provides enough space for his family and friends why should he feel the need to buy something bigger?Piccolo Daimaoh wrote:His house sticks so much lol. From what I saw in Japan, that house is like 3x the norm. I'm sure he doesn't wanna have a house the size of a block, but who knows. I don't know Japanese real estate either and how much property tax is there, etc. That all could have an effect on it all. Great looking house, though.

Call me old-fashioned, but the very idea of a random guy taking a dozen photographs of a person's house and posting it online where anyone (normal people as well as freaky people) can see it, just because the guy who lives there wrote a very successful manga/book/whatever, is waaayyyy too creepy.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't real estate in Japan really expensive?Lord Beerus wrote:Well Toriyama has always believed bigger doesn't make better. Man, I really wish Toriyama had Twitter or some kind of social site so that he could talk to his fans more without having to get out.

That's a mansion? Looks pretty modest to me. There probably isn't enough room to build big houses in Japan due to how overcrowded/overpopulated it is.

I don't think he wants that. I've been told over the years that Toriyama is a pretty private person. I don't wants to deal with crazy fans asking him questions that he does not remember or care about. Fans will likely ask him stuff like "Is Mystic Gohan really stronger then SSj3 Goku!", "Is Vegito really the strongest?!", "Will you make another series?!". If I met the guy then I would ask him other questions of his work besides Dragon Ball. I think the only people that he talks to are his closest family members, his closet friends, the people at Toei, Shueisha and maybe Square Enix (for Dragon Quest artwork request).GokuRules987 wrote:Man, I really wish Toriyama had Twitter or some kind of social site so that he could talk to his fans more without having to get out.

I heard he had moved to the country to get away from too many people coming to visit him, and was picturing him living in a country home/cottage surrounded by trees, with a big classic motorcycle parked outside.

But its not like he has to do anything serious. Just compile those questions and make a FAQ page so that the fans would know the answers. I mean the series have a lot of unanswered questions. I still don't know how much power up did Goku received after absorbing godly ki, or how much his power multiplied.Hellspawn28 wrote:I don't think he wants that. I can't imagine him wanting to answer a lot of questions like that, because then he would have to remember all those things in the future.GokuRules987 wrote:But its not like he has to do anything serious. Re: Check Out Akira Toriyama Mansion ;)
Just imagine is majority of fans decided to write him a letter and ask him about Goku vs Superman and who do you think would win in a fight. Obviously Toriyama is aware of this issue and he might find early DBZ Goku to be no match against Superman, especially if he read superman comics and knew that superman could sneeze solar systems and move dozens of planets with his brute strength.
But if he was too look at the end of Z Goku or after GT when Goku got infused with shenron and became immortal, he would find that Goku power would be more than enough to defeat superman at that point. But what do you think?

And that's exactly why Toriyama doesn't have a twitter. He does not exist to answer mundane questions from fans. We live in an era in which people are so entitled that they expect people to manage FAQs instead of living their lives. These people do not exist to entertain you; can you imagine getting pestered all day with meaningless dribble from people who can't spell or write full sentences? The man has clearly chosen the right path in isolation.
