Are Goku or Chi-Chi bad parents?

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

I'll give Chi-Chi the edge though as her nagging actually gave Gohan skills & learning that he'll actually need to make a good, normal living for himself and his family.
He doesn't need to make a 'good normal living', Videl is a billionaire.

Gohan should be focusing on training so he can protect his family, not studying so he can be a professor as what essentially amounts to a hobby.

Is it wrong that Gohan wishes to create his own success? You have to acknowledge that even billionaires will continue to work to ensure their skills never dull. Just as Son Goku continues to become stronger for himself, Son Gohan can continue his scholarly pursuits for his own gratification. At the end of the day, martial arts is just as much as a hobby, isn't it? There's no need to point a target at Gohan when he's already learned his lesson to keep up his training as a side-responsibility. He's not fully committed and that's okay for what he is already capable of. A sufficient amount of knowledge is all it takes for him to catch up quickly, so to speak.

They're both weirdly abusive in two ways. Chi-Chi makes a 4-year-old do hours and hours of homework when I'm pretty sure he doesn't even go to school (maybe he's homeschooled, but still, 4? Really.) However, she does actually care about Gohan. Goku, on the other hand, realizes that having Gohan around makes the Z Fighters better (once he's able to go SSJ) but seems completely unaware that Gohan is a child and sees nothing wrong with him getting the tar kicked out of him by overpowered villains.
