The Kaioken x20 scene. I like this scene in pretty much every version (Funi Z, Funi Kai, Japanese Z), but the Funi Z version will always be the one that comes to mind when I think of it. The eerie music that Faulconer plays during Goku's nightmare just builds up the tension and desperation of the scene perfectly. And then Goku makes that heroic speech "The future of Gohan. The future of Chi Chi. Not to mention the future of the entire universe. It all depends on me! And I don't care if you're a million times stronger than me! Mark my words, I'm not going to let them down! So get ready Frieza, because this time you're going down!"

I do appreciate Goku's more realist attitude in the Japanese/Kai versions, but the Funi Z version is just way more inspirational and epic. It just sums up what DBZ is all about for me, which is never give up no matter what the odds.

Another one I prefer is the Goku vs Vegeta Beam struggle in the Ocean dub. Brian Drummond's insane laugh and screaming along with the Levy music just makes it perfect.

And there's the scene where Buutenks uses the Galactic Donuts on Gohan in the Funimation dub. Gohan's breaks free at the last second before the Kamehameha hits, and it plays the "Gohan Powers Up" theme again.

Also the scene where Dr Gero impales Yamcha, a truck explodes in the background and Faulconer's "Destruction" theme kicks in as Yamcha realizes the horror of the situation. Simply perfect.

I'm a dub fan, so I could list more but these are some favourites of mine.

I'm hard pressed to think of any that were better than the original. There are many that I think are good and maybe as good, but never better. This doesn't count Kai. Even if there are a few that are, they are dwarfed by the number of moments that are superior in the original.

Edit: I thought of one, I prefer the Ocean dub music that plays when Goku arrives to save his son from Nappa and Reacoom.
The biggest truths aren't original. The truth is ketchup. It's Jim Belushi. Its job isn't to blow our minds. It's to be within reach.

Hmm... Even as someone who grew up watching DB/DBZ on Cartoon Network, I've pretty much moved on from the old Z dub and have been sticking with the Japanese version pretty much exclusively, except for the dubs of Kai and the new movies.

That said, I still think this scene was funnier in the dub (for the right reasons this time): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C2s8TxW9JBI

There might be a couple scenes elsewhere, but really can't be bothered to go searching for them.
Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.

i agree! i loved how Vegeta said "Let's see what youve got KakaROT! GALICK GUN.....FI-YAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!"
the music was epic too

other scenes i liked better:
-the killing of Goku & Raditz (Ocean only), Piccolo had an epic performance and Raditz was not annoying
-Recommes scenes were funnier (Ocean only)
-every scene in the saga of The First DB hunt, because Peter Berring beats Shunsuke Kikuchi.
-Tullece crushing Goku under his foot (TV Ocean), the music was tense and Tullece sounded the most evil
