Really? I still think most anime these days is aimed towards kids and pre-teens. That's where the major money is. I don't think Disney XD would really give Super the treatment it deserves for it to be a ratings hit.DragonHermit wrote:Yeah, anime in general is targeted towards college aged kids nowadays.

Most anime fans these days are in middle school, high school and college. You don't have many anime market to kids compare to it what it was 10-20 years ago. Now it's just Pokemon, Digimon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Little Battlers Experience, Glitter Force, Yokai Watch and Doraemon market to kids in the US.

Re: Dragon Ball Super on Disney XD?
Digimon also gave up on kids and is focusing on older fans instead.
Also,Hourglass has told me about a very grim scene in Star Wars Rebels where 2 people are beheaded and Gravity Falls seems to get away with a lot. Perhasps XD COULD work...but Toonami is THE shoe in for the license.-

I was mainly talking about the US. Fusion is on Nick Toons and is market to kids here in the US.

Dragon Ball is bigger than your typical late-night 13-26 episode anime series. A lot bigger.

I don't know how likely it is to end up on there, but I certainly wouldn't mind an 'edited' (where needed, if be, anyway) dub airing on TV. I'd love to get it on Toonami too, but having an airing in a timeslot much more likely to get kids seeing it is would definitely be a good thing. The more new younger fans coming into the fanbase, the better for the series longevity.

Re: Dragon Ball Super on Disney XD?
I feel like Dragon Ball has become similar to Robotech in the US. Robotech was popular with kids in the 80's and now these days only 80's kids and hardcore anime knows about it. Kids these days won't know what it is. With Dragon Ball, it was big in the late 90's and early 2000's, but now it's mainly popular with people over the age of 14. Yeah Kai did introduced younger fans on Nick Toons, but it was nowhere as big as DBZ was on Toonami. When I saw ROF in theaters, I saw a few kids but most people in theater where over the age of 25.
There is no reason for Super to be on Disney XD unless they really market it and give a big toy line unlike Kai did on Nick Toons and CW.

I agree. I can deal with the minor edits as long as they are necessary.Gyt Kaliba wrote:I don't know how likely it is to end up on there, but I certainly wouldn't mind an 'edited' (where needed, if be, anyway) dub airing on TV. Re: Dragon Ball Super on Disney XD?
If Super did air on Disney XD then fans would be like "OMG they edit down the show for kids!!". That's how fans felt about Kai on Nick Toons despite DBZ being edit down for kids on Toonami

Those kind of fans are likely going to complain about something no matter what though.Hellspawn28 wrote:If Super did air on Disney XD then fans would be like "OMG they edit down the show for kids!!". That's how fans felt about Kai on Nick Toons despite DBZ being edit down for kids on Toonami.

As far as I'm concerned, edits to get on TV are acceptable, so long as an equally uncut version is still available as well (which sadly doesn't always happen in the case of kid's anime, like Digimon for example). Are some of them ridiculous, like say the infamous Blue Popo? Sure. But are they harmful in the long run when an unedited version is still out there on home media? Not at all.

Cartoon Network would be the better option then. Both CN and Adult Swim are owned by Turner IIRC so it would only make sense to keep it within the company broadcast. If not them, Nicktoons would the second runner up since they've aired Z Kai in tge past and treated the series well.Super Saiyan Prime wrote:To get the target demo to actually watch the show. Re: Dragon Ball Super on Disney XD?
CN and [as] both owned by Turner yes, but their both two completely different brands with different staffs and heads. Cartoon Network for the longest now has focused on comicality programming only which is why Toonami is on [as] and is why the upcoming new Samurai Jack season will be on Toonami only.jelleline89 wrote:Cartoon Network would be the better option then. Re: Dragon Ball Super on Disney XD?
Sure, but CN doesn't exactly run a lot of action programming (acquired or internally produced), especially in accessible time slots. Things like Transformers were booted to 6AM on Saturdays. Though, they do air Kai encores at 8PM on Saturdays.jelleline89 wrote:Cartoon Network would be the better option then. Disney XD is a much more popular channel than Nicktoons.

Disney XD may want a new heavy hitter when Gravity Falls is done.

Re: Dragon Ball Super on Disney XD?
Toonami most likely sign a deal with Funimation and Toei to air Super. It's still early and we still have a whole year ahead of us.

This is a quote from the Toonami TVTropes pageHellspawn28 wrote:Toonami most likely sign a deal with Funimation and Toei to air Super. It's still early and we still have a whole year ahead of us.
When questioned on whether or not Toonami would eventually air Dragon Ball Super, Jason had a few things to say via Twitter, one of them being this...
"There are multiple streaming services out there who have already made it their business to outbid us and secure exclusive rights to shows Toonami has expressed interest in. It's happened several times already. We are now leverage for licensors to go get more cash."

True but it's Disney they are gonna Censor the fuck out of Super. Like this sceneHourglassIndigo wrote:Hear me out, Disney XD's target audience seems to be older kids to teenagers. They've already got a few anime on the channel. I don't know, I wouldn't mind it. Apparently they had Naruto at one point, so Dragon Ball isn't too far of a stretch. What do you guys think?

Not to mention, the fact that Jaco asks what Bulma's bust size is, which is definitely not allowed on Disney XDCorey LSSJ Gamer wrote:True but it's Disney they are gonna Censor the fuck out of Super.
