When they announced that they would be retelling BOG and ROF, I was not expecting a whole lot. At least I knew what was going to happen unlike GT where no one knew what could go wrong.

Now, once we get to the new arc, that's when things are really gonna take off for it I think. I can't wait!
This one. I don't need to say anything more.
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

Out of 25 episodes of Super, only about 6 of them at the most had unique story material. How sad is that?

Up to the end of the BoG arc. It was fine, mostly entertaining alternative re telling of the arc (except for the stuff that dragged on like Ep5 fight) but the Resurrection "F" is where it all came apart. The bridge between the films was excellent but as soon as the main stuff got going it was  first it followed the movie too closely, then it went in a completely different direction that frankly sucked, now were back to following the movie closely again. Animation has felt a lot more inconsistent aswell.

The characterisation has been wayyyy off base too. Characters that were fun and charming suddenly become really annoying like Jaco.

The musical score is a disgrace too. It's atrocious. Feel like no care is put into the majority of the tracks/placement of tracks. Instead of elevating scenes it occasionally does the opposite and you can't help but groan.

Sum up, after the initial hype the series has started to become a chore. Toei's lack off effort has really shown for that reason I will probably only buy Super from U6 onwards. (Unless they completely butcher that too). A few months ago I said Super was better than GT, story wise maybe but GT absolutely kicks Super up the wazoo in every other regard. 5/10. Definitely the worst new anime series of 2015, I have watched.

I'm slowly getting through Super finishing the BOG arc but have yet to start the RF arc.

Therefore i give the show a solid 4/10.

I find the show very mediocre in almost everyway! From animation, writing and music. IMO i find the comedy very "dumb" treating the viewer like a child (mind you the show is directed towards children) and nothing new we havent seen from other shows.

As a man being almost 30 i was really hoping DB would be treated better but after seeing the 2 new movies i half expected super to be sub par.

I will say like everyone else, the slice of life eps were the best. However those can pnly go so far and dont really further the plot.

Compared to the zero that Kai had, though? I'll still take it.

(I mean, don't get me wrong, I enjoy Kai for what it is, but I'd still take Super over it with ease.)

I'm starting to think the reason why i like those slice of life episodes is basically because those are new materials and i dont know whats going to happen in that episode, thats also probably why i like first part of ROF Arc and those Champa/Vados appearnces, now with the ROF arc already in the main fight,we basically already knew whats going to happen and i goddamn hate the ending of the movie thats why I'm not looking forward to it especially with the level of animation Super have been.

8/10 for me. I prefer the series over the movies easily.

Its a real shame the first 30 or so episodes of Super were wasted on rehashed material not counting the slice of life episodes. 30 episodes is literally an entire anime season.

You must not know that champa arc is beginning from episode 28.

A big pile of shit. Just like GT, it'll just be a series that existed and nothing more. It won't stand the test of time like Dragon Ball did. Hell I can say GT does more things better than Super does.

Story: I can give to Super sometimes because GT has some shit stories, but GT also has some interesting one's too that beat Super.

Music: Super has a horrendously awful score. It's a snoozefest of boredom. GT's score is much better.

Animation: Super is more colorful, but more interesting animation is in GT. So GT gets the point as no amount of colour makes Super interesting.

Fight Scenes: People thought GT's fight scenes were lackluster to Dragon Ball, but Super is even more pathetic. It's so pathetic that when other anime's do homages to Dragon Ball, they can pull off a better fight scenes than Super.

Characters: I give this to Super. Only cause it has more interesting characters, but both casts are poorly used with Super slightly edging out.

Pacing: GT but only cause Super is so uninteresting, that it feels like it drags more than it actually does.
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!

For me I'd give it a about a 7.9-8/10 as I'm enjoying the series so far for what it is, especially it being a retelling. Like others I'm amazed that Super is a thing 18 years later, and I'm grateful to have all this DB material (DBS anime, manga, heroes, films) lately. It's definitely a good year to be a Dragon Ball Fan, Happy New Years everyone!

Look on the bright side, after about 3 more episodes the movie adaptions are finally over forever and every episode going forward will be all new material.

Just as long as the animation improves and doesn't still look like crap, and the stories remain decent, it should be an alright series. I feel like the worst is behind us...hopefully.

I like it. It's by no means anything terrible that I've seen so many people regard it as, but it's also nothing spectacular. That's not to say that it hasn't had moments of being terrible or spectacular. Episodes 6, 11, 16, 17, 18 and 22 are some of my favourite Dragon Ball episodes ever, but then there's rubbish like episodes 5, 7, 24 and the second half of 25.

My main gripe with this series is its art and animation. Toei Animation are now the evil empire. I don't understand how a company can now be so incompetent with a series that they've helmed for decades now and have treated it better in previous years. Is it because they're making so many shows? Is it because they don't have the money? Is it because of tight scheduling? Do they just not care anymore? Like... Holy shit, what the fuck is actually going on? Dragon Ball has had its ugly moments, there's no denying that, but in Super it's so frequent to the point of angering its viewers. I pray that the new story arcs look better... or at least won't look as bad.

Art and animation aside, the show can be wonderful. The character interactions here are such a delight that they're the main reason as to why I keep coming back to watch it. Seeing Vegeta hang out with his family at a vacation or Goku punching Krillin in the face so that Krillin can see how strong Goku's become or Goku and Vegeta doing house chores at Beerus's home are fantastic moments that I always rewatch.

Sumitomo's soundtrack is alright. There are definitely some great tracks such as both of the God transformations music and that wonderful pump-up soundtrack that plays when SSG Goku shoots out of the ocean in Episode 11. There's a lot of synth tracks which really get on my nerves sometimes, there's also some tracks that use samples from songs we've heard before in Buu Kai and BoG. It's okay overall.

As for the best episode so far, it's definitely Episode 11, such a spectacular episode. I felt like I was watching a segment from a film. The right amount of humour, the right amount of intensity, the right amount of action, and to top it all off... It has that great "I'm getting excited!" moment from Goku. The art and animation in that episode was really good as well. One of the best Dragon Ball episodes ever made. I'm serious.

Once these retellings are over, that's when Dragon Ball Super really begins. I am ready for new material. I am also ready for Toei to get their fucking shit together. Dragon Ball fans deserve much better than this, especially since this is a sequel series to one of the most influential television series for so many people.

If I had to give it a score, it's a 7.5/10. Much better than GT, better pacing than DBZ, but I still don't think it's as good as DBZ Kai and the original Dragon Ball. My rating will probably be higher when the Funi English dub comes out because I actually have a much better experience when I watch Dragon Ball with the Funi (Kai) voice cast. I watched BoG subbed first, but when I watched the English dub I loved it way more than I initially did with the original Japanese version.

I like it, though there is a lot of disappointment at times. Dragon Ball GT is certainly the one I like by far better.

I dont really like the art and the story is not that great (just a retelling of BOG, etc). I give DBS 5/10, I hope they will make new content, and better story's...

It's not a case of budget at all. Super practically had no pre-production stage, unlike previous Dragon Ball animes. So basically none of the staff who were involved in the production of Super have had any time to get their shit together. Hence why Episode 5 turned out the way it did. And why there have quite a few instance of off-model animation. It would also explain why Super has had such a distinct lack of direction as well.
