Question for japanese-learning Dragon Ball watchers

Yes, and it's very hard to stop the flow of misinformation once it starts. Many viewers will watch the first sub available and start discussions about its content right away, without any knowledge of whether it's accurate or not. So you can end up with thorough discussions about things that the characters didn't even say, and it gets ingrained in people's heads. Even if better translations come along later, the seed of misinformation has already been planted, and people may get confused about what was actually said (like, for a recent example, I'm sure many people believe that the 12 universes are all housed within a giant 13th universe...how long will it take for every single person who saw that to find out it's wrong?) So even though some groups may defend themselves by saying, "well, we're mostly accurate, so that's good enough since we're fast," I don't think they realize the impact they have on the fandom.

Yikes, I've got to get back on the main topic...something I forgot to mention in my first post is the puns! Especially in a series like Dragon Ball, where most of the names are based on some kind of pun or wordplay, knowing Japanese makes it much easier to understand how they came up with certain names. And when new names pop up, you have a leg up in speculating about what the pun might be (though I often overthink and make wild guesses that are way out of left field...though I believe a recent one I figured out correctly is that Magetta is based on Mazinger and Getter Robo...I don't think that's officially confirmed, though.)
