Do you mind if Supers Manga gets behind?

well the manga is the adaptation of the anime this time and not the other way around, so I hope it keeps going even if the anime gets ahead. Toyotaro is doing a great job with it.

Re: Do you mind if Supers Manga gets behind?
I would not mind at all , I decided to avoid manga spoilers (not going that well) so that there won't be a sense of 'I know what's gonna happen next' that I had with super so far. If the manga falls behind, at least I could surf the Internet happily knowing that I won't bump into spoilers.
On a side note, Avoiding spoliers is a bigger challenge than I thought, those clickbait guys on YouTube almost caught me out. Good luck to those who decide to take the same path as me.

Yeah, it's gonna be tough, man, i also decided to avoid spoilers from now on.
Re: Do you mind if Supers Manga gets behind?
Actually, these promotional manga exist to create more awareness for the anime, not to spoil it, so it needs to keep going as a monthly advertisement. I think the only reason it skipped ahead earlier was to make clear that new stuff would eventually come and hype it. It served that purpose, but it wouldn't make sense for it to keep spoiling surprises from the main product (for instance, the short-lived Saint Seiya Omega manga was always behind the anime).FoolsGil wrote:As a promotion to the anime, it getting behind is one of the worst things that could happen.
Re: Do you mind if Supers Manga gets behind?
Exactly, I try so hard not to read the manga, but the temptation is irresistable, so I end up spoiling the whole series for myself. I actually wish the manga stopped abruptly!! But honestly it won't because it's a good promotional source for the anime.SSJ3 Vegeta wrote:I wouldn't even mind if it ends in chapter 10.The manga is good, but it kills the excitement in the anime when we already know the results of the fights.
Re: Do you mind if Supers Manga gets behind?
The anime may feel less like the inferior version of the story if we don't see things executed better first in the manga. Which I wouldn't mind at all.

Re: Do you mind if Supers Manga gets behind?
It funny though because this is exactly how I felt about the movies and even the anime to some extent. In the U.S the only way to even discuses these is if you acquire them by illegal means. For the movies I tried to wait till FUNimations came out but, I knew so much because people couldn't keep spoilers in the appropriate thread and I got shot down for a suggestion to do a Revival F spoiler and non-spoiler thread for those who didn't/couldn't see it as it wasn't available in their country.
I feel bad for those who are waiting for their countries releases because not only do they have to avoid the manga but the anime as well. Personally I hope the bigger page count is Jump recognizing the Fanbase this manga is getting. I think the Manga originally skipped because people were mad at A) The quality of the anime at that point and B) Were fatigued because the movie (Revival F) was really new at the time the Manga got there (Plus the manga version was litterly a few issues before) The anime could get away with it because you don't have to pay per episode to see it. I think VJump (with I'm assuming OK from TOEI) Jumped ahead to show people that original stuff wasn't too far ahead and they you'd be awarded when after the Golden Freeza saga
How ever, what I think is funny that even with the larger page count the anime is speeding up. So I think the manga side has slowed down a bit for pacing (which has been great in arc!)

Re: Do you mind if Supers Manga gets behind?
I feel like the manga will concentrate on the fights and most interesting parts even if it means falling behind for good.
Re: Do you mind if Supers Manga gets behind?
Of course I want the manga to go on even if it gets behind the anime, as long as it continues to deliver a superior version of Super events. To be honest, maybe DBS anime will improve by having a regular writer, but sadly it's not going to have the quality or consistence that a new Toriyama story deserves. The anime version is going to contain filler as we've seen in the last three episodes, so Super manga is the best way to have a more accurate and faithful adaptation of Toriyama's plot.
Now that we know it's going to be resealed in tankobon, I really doubt it's going to end soon or to skip things in order to go ahead of the anime.

Definitely do not mind if the Super manga gets behind, I enjoy the story of the series either way. For myself it's like seeing one and the other in a different perspective, for example if the manga is released first then I see it from an animation perspective and if the anime's released first then I get to see it in Toyotaro's style which I simply love.
Re: Do you mind if Supers Manga gets behind?
That's a completely baseless claim. You're only fooling yourself if you believe that, as the manga is done by Toyotaro, not Toriyama. We don't know what's coming from Toyotaro's head. For all we know, the manga might be skipping things that were in Toriyama's script but you're calling "filler".wertham wrote:The anime version is going to contain filler as we've seen in the last three episodes, so Super manga is the best way to have a more accurate and faithful adaptation of Toriyama's plot.

Re: Do you mind if Supers Manga gets behind?
I would prefer for it to get behind, because I feel like some of my excitement for the Champa arc has been lessened by already knowing the major plot points for the first several episodes. With some of the early episodes from Super that were completely new material, they were such a thrill to watch since nobody knew exactly what would happen, so they couldn't possibly be spoiled (save for, like, short episode summaries posted with TV listings, but those never give much away). I want to experience that thrill again, but it'll be a couple more episodes before we truly don't know what will happen (but even then, we'll probably have titles for upcoming episodes that'll spoil something). With all the promotions and previews and other things, it might be damn near impossible to remain completely unspoiled, but at least not having a manga chapter with lots of specific details about upcoming plots would help to keep things surprising.
There's been no indication that they intend to stop the manga anytime soon, and are even releasing it in tankoubon format. So if it does continue, I'd rather it be as a complement to currently airing episodes, rather than a detailed source of spoilers weeks ahead of the episodes.

Re: Do you mind if Supers Manga gets behind?
It has been confirmed on the homepage here that the manga is getting it's volume release. It being number 1 to me confirms there are going to be more.
Re: Do you mind if Supers Manga gets behind?
You're forgetting we've had an almost entire recap episode so far, so filler is to be expected. I'm not saying that all what appears in Super's manga version is Toriyama's plot word by word, of course not, but I feel that it goes right to the important stuff while Super's anime adaptation has delivered stuff that feels "filler-esque": Champa and Vados not teleporting directly to Beerus' home but walking to it, the awfully animated fist fight between Champa and Beerus, Beerus' "joke" that makes Bulma afraid of his intentions only to discard it later, the frogman Jaco fights in Zuno's planet, etc. I don't know how many of this stuff are from Toriyama and how many are not, but that scenes sounds like the kind of stuff anyone could leave to animation staff when writing an overall plot for a new arc.Araki wrote:That's a completely baseless claim. Of course I may be wrong, we can't know for sure until Super's plot gets published in an hypothetical future. It's just the overall feeling the anime and the manga have given to me so far. More a matter of intuition and knowing Toriyama's tastes and pacing that nothing else. You're right, Toyotaro's manga may skip things, but Super's anime will add things too. Better to have two options that only one, right?
Re: Do you mind if Supers Manga gets behind?
I think the manga was Toriyama's bullet script and things that aren't in it are Toei's filler to make the episodes/arc longer. I could be waaaaayyyyy off though and Toyotaro just chooses to leave it out or that Toei/Toriyama was very vague in telling Toyotaro what to draw/dialog.

I really hope the first volume sells well enough to convince them to go weekly.saiyanvegetable wrote:why anybody is still bothering with this piss poor anime is beyond me. I'll still be following the manga.

Or it may be a case like Pokemon Adventure where the manga in book form has more pages than it had in serialization.

I like Piccolo too, but I wouldn't keep my expectations high on that if I were you.namekiansaiyan wrote:It just means we get to see Piccolo kick Frost's butt with his Special Beam Cannon in colour and movement first.
