Where was it confirmed Tenshinhan is an alien?

Discussion regarding the entirety of the franchise in a general (meta) sense, including such aspects as: production, trends, merchandise, fan culture, and more.

This is another example of fans being super-hyper-pedantically literal about the terms DB uses. "Human" and "Earthling" are essentially interchangeable here. Tenshinhan is never actually said to be an alien.

It doesn't make a lot of sense that a throwaway line in a guidebook gets all this flak. Kunzait is the only person I've ever seen verbalize it from a point-of-view I can get behind; that it's nice to have a couple of characters who's background don't delve into science fiction, but he is so far removed from whatever alien ancestry he has and it's not even mentioned in-series. It doesn't take anything away from the character. I don't want to put words in people's mouths, but much of the complaining reeks of "I want Tenshinhan to be strong because he trains a lot, and not because he was predisposed to be strong." Which, really, isn't even what the blurb says.

These complaints feel like the descendant of the "Power Level Debate Clan."
Please don't compare me to power level guys. I remember Kuririn complaing about the cold weather at Gero's laboratory and Piccolo says something like - you humans are so sensitive or something, and Tenshinhan says that he's also a human and that Kuririn should suck it up.

I don't think what you're saying here is disagreeing with B. I even shortened his post to better illustrate, that he agrees Ten was never called an alien.

In any case, that scene is so stupid. Krillin is freezing his ass off, complains about it to Piccolo and Piccolo just tells him to stop whining? He could just have conjured up some clothes for Krillin, but noooo, we can't have that apparently. From an in-universe perspective of course Piccolo could be aware of that fact, but just decided to troll Krillin, because they are warriors or what have you and so shouldn't whine about such trivial matters, when far more important stuff is happening.
I'm amazed those at Toei didn't make a joke here, where Piccolo conjured some clothes for Krillin that would make him fall to the ground due to its heavyness. Totally missed opportunity! Too bad I haven't been able to find some fanart of it either...

But I digress.. I pretty much agree with Lightbing here.
While I usually take it for granted that new info would only come from Toriyama or whatever stuff Toei had come up with, it just seems weird not to have something like this getting confirmed as coming from Toriyama himself. It's weird at all, that we'd be investigating this like we were lawyers and talking about proof and credible sources, but that's what it's come to.
I'd find it very weird, if those writing the books just made it up. The only way I could see that happening, if they didn't count on people taking it seriously or something, but that's just unprofessional. So the fact that there is no source other than Daizenshuu 4 makes it very questionable in my eyes and I just hold it as fanfiction, until some proof comes, which likely won't.
But I wouldn't mind it to be true!

The whole human/Earthling thing was always so iffy. Sometimes human represents every humanoid including aliens but excluding gods, sometimes only Earthlings and all others are aliens.

I'm personally more partial to FUNimation's explanation from Legacy of Goku 2. I know it's basically arbitrary and has no binding power whatsoever, but it makes more sense to me personally than Tenshinhan having alien ancestry. There would be more like him if that was the case, wouldn't there?

So what they said was that "it is believed that a third eye can be attained through intense meditation concentrating on the pineal gland" - a real world reference and a much more elegant explanation.

The only thing I ever heard of him being an alien was from a joke I heard folks make regarding his English va and his mother's roles.
