SPOILER: About an upcoming villain

My theories are:
1) A Gokû warped by a set of tragic circumstances that never befell regular Gokû. Where Future Trunks faced tragedy and came out stronger, maybe a tragedy emotionally broke this Gokû.
2) A possession; either a 'Majin Gokû' type or "Bebi Gokû" type.
3) A clone of Gokû created by Dr. Gero; a Movie 7 situation.

I feel like it could be Bardock instead, but I'm not convinced because I think if it were him they'd call him something more mysterious like what they did in DBHeroes.

The whole "Black Gokû" naming scheme is unfortunate; all I can think is "Someone sure likes throwing English words in there.".

How is Bardock even an issue? I simply don't get it... Where does this come from? Black Goku = Bardock? Bardock is the same colour as Goku. Black Goku will be another Dr. Gero(or his computer's) creation... Come on, guys! Trunks' original nemesis is Dr. Gero like Goku's is Freeza.

My theory on Goku Black is:

1 - It is Goku taken over by another evil life form from another character that exist in the Future. Something like Bebi, but maybe better.

2 - A cyborg clone of Goku created by Dr. Gero's computer as a weapon of destruction. Goku Black has a disguise that covers and masquerading as the real Goku. So a version of Goku similar to Showa MechaGodzilla

3 - It's Goku from Trunks timeline that was wish back after the defeat of Cell and #17 & #17 in Trunks timeline. The new Dragon Balls created by Dende may try to wish Goku back, but not properly. Goku was resurrected imperfectly and became evil. Goku has been in the After Life for decades and may have found away to catch up to the others.

4 - Goku from Trunks timeline got wish back and end up following under control by Towa & Mira. With Xenoverse 2 possibly being announce soon, they can tie in the show with the upcoming game.

What if "black goku" is a reanimated version of Goku from future trunks time line. You know after he dies of the heart virus, some crazy scientist (they use this a lot....) finds goku's body and reanimates his corpse O.o or made a clone from his dna or something >.>

We never found out what they did with his body so it's possible.

Maybe they mess up the wish by saying "bring him back completely healthy" which would remove the damage he got from hitting his head, returning him back to the way he was supposed to be.

Actually, Bardock has a slightly darker skin tone compared to Goku. But, of course, I don't think they would name him "Black" because of this, nor I think that Bardock will have anything to do with this (although it would be cool, if well developed, as both him (albeit not cannon) and Trunks have time-related plots).

However, I think that using some Dr. Gero's creation as the main villain to this arc would be too far-fetched. Cell was supposed to be his ultimate creation. Furthermore, at least for me, a human (or even his super computer) conceiving an android (or other type of machine or thing) capable of fighting at god-tier level (since it will have to fight Goku/Vegeta sooner or later) seems unconvicing.

I would say that would be stupid... But that sounds exactly like a wacky plot point Toriyama would write.

There could be a random villain that has adopted the name of Goku since the real Goku is dead, and everyone think's he is Goku because they didn't know the real one but they've heard legends of how strong he is? Black could just be his own addition to the name I suppose. Sort of like how Obito used the name Madara in Naruto.

The villain has to be related to Future Trunks future, otherwise he has no reason to return.

I don't know how accurate this is, but I heard in a spoiler video that an upcoming episode involves some kind of magic water that makes a clone of Vegeta, so maybe Black Goku is also a clone created from this water?

But they said the Black Goku arc starts June 12th and if the upcoming magic water and copy Vegeta had anything to do with Black Goku then surely it would all be about of one arc.

I don't think this mini arc and the next arc will be linked.

Goku from alternate timeline from the future who is an evil person and ascended beyond the gods. Basically the evil version of Goku's destiny.

Or....it's Goku himself from the future. It's what he became after neglecting all of his loved ones in his selfish pursuits and losing everyone in the process and this making him depressed and dark where he gives in to his rage and loses all sense of empathy and humanity.
