Goten in DBS

He is not Black.

He is just as important as he was in GT... hell even in Z I found him useless besides being a fuse partner for Trunks

It's a shame Goten/Trunks young duo doesn't do more, given the potential (being SSJ2 so young in Z and even SSJ3 through Fusion!) they should be the most gifted warriors, I would like to see them grow up and get more action, but the show is too centered on Goku and Vegeta for it to happen I guess.

Oh and to stay on topic, I don't think he is Black either, that would be disappointing.

How can people who don't train become stronger? Their power is basically abusing their natural talents+fusion. They have literally trained for less than 2 yeas in their lives.

It's a shame that Goten has passed to a secondary role, The 5 saiyans from Buu Saga are not relevant now, the story is only related to Goku Vegeta and Now future Trunks even kid Trunks has have important roles, but Gohan and Goten Cause even though he wasn't raised by Goku he has saiyan blood and he used to like fightings, in buu saga we saw that he really liked to participate in the Tekaichi Budokai and he even show more enthusiasm than Gohan (Cause Videl forced him to participate) and even Chichi trained with him, I don't know why in DBS she changed her opinion and forces him to study... I thought he would have an important role in the planet potof arc but actually wasn't such relevant. I think kid Trunks personality is way better and that's why they gives him more relevance..

There's some chance that Goten is Black.
And not an alternate future one.
But this very own Goten is Black.

The character is drawn in a panel alongside all the cast, but stripped out the very first episode of the arc.

If that is true (and it could be) the lack of Goten could be explained for plot pourposes.

Black says he has finally made Goku's power his own (ep. 56). Black uses the IT (Goku's technique). There have been multiple references that Black's body isn't his own, why would someone possess (or corrupt or whatever) Goten's body?. Black even said his body wanted to fight Goku.
I mean, a couple of month ago it was a fine theory, but right know it doesn't make sense. Why won't this theory die? lol

With the facts given, like date of the Cell games and Gotens birth year, I don't know why anybody would say it's impossible for Goten to be born in the Future. We also know Trunks is about a year older than Goten. Trunks appears to a be at least a couple of months old when Goku dies in the future. 9 months after that would be about a year after Trunks is born.

Goku could have got Chi-Chi pregnant a week before dying.

Everybody says Goku got her pregnant in the 10 day wait for the Cell games. I say that's IMPOSSIBLE. That's never stated anywhere in the manga or anime. 9 months after the Cell games would be in the following year, 768. Goten was born in 767.

1. No contradiction. The entity in the potara got the fighting power level of Goku, using a body with similar potential.
2. No contradiction too. There was an entire planet using that skill. I repeat: adult goten body, not an evil goten acting on his own.
3. For the time being (years from now), not kid Goten. Just a chance (why Sauron want to possess Frodo? Frodo was here and got the ring).
4. Being son of Goku.

What changed is that many people assume a Goten from alternate future. Not at all: is our beloved Goten. That explain his presence in the opening along the main cast.

I don't think Goten is missing, he's at home and in school. We haven't seen him because the arc revolves around Bulma's family so they've had no reason to show the Son house.

If it turns out that he IS missing though, I'd like to see how they explain the fact that Chi Chi didn't freak out and call everyone.

I don't think Goten's absence means anything. It's like how Gohan was left on Earth in the Champa Arc and we all thought it means something, when in the end it means nothing at all.

The main reason why I don't think Goten was born in Trunks' timeline is because Future Gohan never referenced him, if he was born in that timeline, Gohan should've train him along with Trunks. On the other hand, it is possible that Goten was born in the Unseen Timeline where everyone was alive, but I just don't see Goten being Black.

I believe he means Goten has been absent this arc which makes him think he's going to end up being Black from a different universe or timeline.

Geez. I would bet all my money and then some, that Goten has *nothing* to do with Black. The Black theories are totally out there. The writers wrote him out as they did Gohan, plain and simple, and there's nothing else to it.

Because Chi-Chi now has the money to pay for his studies, after Satan gave Goku the money in the first episode, remember? When Piccolo and Krillin heard about Future Trunks, they were heading to Capsule Corp, and Chi-Chi stopped Goten from following them in order to make him study. So while all this is happenning, Goten is in his room, reading books and hearing the insufferable voice of his mother.

At this point, honestly, the only hope to see grown Goten doing something, or Gohan back to his Mystic levels of goodness is a miracle. Only God knows how f--kin' good would be a Cell saga - Gohan type of importance for Goten. I mean: now we have a Trunks centric saga, and even the kid one is on the spotlight for obvious reasons, what if the next saga is Goten and Gohan centric? I think I could die in joy

Chi-Chi lied about spending all of the money to encourage Goku's work. She used those same funds to repair their house after Goku contracted Delayed Onset Turbulent Ki Syndrome. Goten's education was established.
