Quoted for truth, though I can't say I'm not a big fan of Vegeta either.

What?

Uh, yeah. They're both goofy, they're both innocent, they both has super strength, Goku has an extending Nyoibou and Luffy can stretch. :D They both eat a lot. They rarely get angry. They both like to fight. They're both searching for a treasure of some kind, at some point. They both belong to a group with at least one cute, adorible animal mascot with shapeshifting abilities. They live by the sea at some point. They have similar accents Japanese anime (I think, but I'm not sure), and played by female voice actresses which work on both shows at some point. They both eat "forbidden" fruit... Oda-sensei is a rabid Toriyama-sensei fanboy...
What about their dedication to their friends, their "serious mode" - piss them off and you'll get their full wrath, their preference not to kill their enemy. So far the only person Luffy may have killed is Arlong, though there is no soild proof that Arlong lived or died, and the fact a woman with some fighting skills has some control over them/beats them up.

I always say Piccolo and Zoro have a bit in common. Neither really wanted to help Goku/Luffy until they were forced, and after working together they developed a deep bond of friendship. Kururin and Ussop are also simular. They're the weaker best friend of the hero and....

Come to think about it, some of Freeza may also exist in Arlong, a merciless killer willing to kill any man woman or child to get what he wants (Freeza – power, Arlong – money). They’re also the only villains to hurt Adult Goku and Luffy on a personal level – killing Kururin and abusing Nami, and the only villains they killed/thought they killed/possibly killed without a second though (Goku saying “goodbye and hope you come back” to Kid Buu isn’t quite the same to me).

You know I also sometimes think Gaara is a little like Vegeta. He started out not understanding what things like love were and protecting those you love and then learned through defeat with an opponent that did.
I'd say he is like Majin Buu + Rei Ayanami on Evangelion.

To answer your question. Hiei turned good way earlier in his show than Vegeta did in DBZ. But he didn't have true pride like Vegeta though.

I agree with the Sasuke thing. He is a lame and very cliched version of Vegeta. I would also have to say Seto Kaiba on Yugioh. Except he just might have an even bigger ego than Vegeta.

Actually I was referring more to the manga, and whether Vegeta's turning good happened before the 4 Saint Beasts arc.

I'm gonna compare Sailor Moon/DBZ... just because I'm good at it.

Son Goku & Tsukino Usagi - Blonde Hair/Blue Eyes... Eat a lot... Dumbasses until the time is right... Fight in a group... One has a son, one has a daughter.

Vegeta & Hino Rei - Both have slanted eyes (Veggie's are half covered by his brow and Rei's are sharper than most of the Sailor Senshi's)... Both were antagonists to the hero when they entered... Both have a love/hate relationship with the hero (they are slightly different relationships however but that can be explained byt he sex difference)

Yamucha & Kino Makoto - Both were seen as tough but are discovered to be kind hearted and bit shy... Both develop relationships with someone else in the group that end up being stronger than their relationship with the hero... They die similarly...

I want to compare Gohan to someone but he fits with both Mercury and Chibi-Moon... oh well.
Just remember, everytime something bad is happening to you. Something even worse is happening to someone else.

I think Hiei turning good happened first. After the rescue Yukina arch. Vegeta didn't completely turn good until the Buu saga.

Panda, to add something to the Goku and Usagi comparison. They also both fought someone who was evil and had to be reborn as a kid.

Anything can have similarities if you'll look for them, but SM/DBZ comparisions(character-wise, at least) strikes me as a rather large streach.

Otherwise, I'd tend to agree on the Goku/Luffy thing(intended, perhaps) and the Vegeta/Hiei thing.

I've often thought of Majin Buu too but then I just can't see Gaara acting like a 3 year-old and laughing constantly like an insane goofball.

That sounds more like Naruto. :P

I admit I've only seen as far as chpt. 96 of Naruto, so I would only compare Gaara to Kid Buu in that they're both sadistic, ruthless psychopaths. Though my friends say when I learn about Gaara's past I'll feel sorry for him.

Bulma's a lot like Misato or Asuka from Evangelion, in my opinion.

I think I agree Chaos Saiyajin. I would also think that Asuka is kinda like Vegeta. They both are full of pride.

Garaa to me is kinda like Buu in that he wants to kill, plus Brolly in that he goes insane, and like an Eva character in that he questions his existance.

Replace "dumbkopf" (spl) with "clown/fool" and I'd say you're right on.

On another note, Shinji of EVA reminds me of Gohan. Someone who has to fight, but doesn't want at first. Gohan's just a lot less whiney.

I disagree about Misato being like Buruma as well as the Shinji/Gohan comparison.

Shinji is a boy that has serious issues with confidence as well as having a very dysfunctional relationship with his father. Last I checked, Goku wasn't constantly staring down coldly at his son or disowning him. And Gohan may have been reluctant to fight, but I never got the sense that he had really low-self esteem. Yes he would freeze or worry he couldn't do something, but that happens to most of us at points. That doesn't mean we're all "Shinji Ikaris".

Where Misato is concerned, people always tend to judge her as a bubble-headed, partying, and aggressive woman, hence thinking she's like Buruma. The thing is, a lot of that is a "cover" for who she really is and a method for her to avoid thinking too much, especially about her painful past. She may have acted like a flit but she always "knew the score". She's a much deeper person than Buruma is, so I would say any similarities are shallow at best. Plus she isn't a "scientific genius". XD *keeps recalling all the scenes where Dr. Ritsuko Akagi had to constantly explain the data to her*

Can anybody spot the similarities between a Ssj, and this strange character on this YuGiOh! card?

Actually I think that if the energy around would be red, it would totally look like someone using the Kaio-ken.

Well to be honest, I've been ignoring this topic, since I don't really like character comparisons, since most of them are pretty obvious. However, I've actually found one comparison that I find pretty funny (sorry in advance if it's just me :?):

SuppaMan in Dr. Slump to Kibito in DBZ. Think about it: both of them have rather square heads, and Kibito's little antic in not being able to pull the Z Sword when Gohan gives it to him seems very SuppaMan to me, especially when he just puts his arms behind his back and says that it's not his job to master the Z Sword anyways .

Of course, I may have fallen into the trap of this topic and started to (as VegettoEX said in a Superman VS. Goku topic) pull random stuff from my bum just to make the comparison make sense (sorry if I did !)

Why only anime characters? Nappa = Goldberg (when he was still a wrestler).

Back when a friend of mine and I were first getting into DBZ, being Street Fighter fans, we compared Vegeta to M. Bison and Frieza to Akuma.

Now that you mention it, Mr. Satan does resemble Hulk Hogan (when he gets bald).
