What form of martial arts do the Z fighters use?

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

I take Jujitsu classes(a form of japanese martial arts) as I was playing Tenkaichi I saw that they use a couple of the blocks from jujitsu...I think it's no specific type of martial arts...besides, it really doesn't matter much since half the fight they are throwing energy blasts at each other V_V...but yeah, good question.

Toriyama said their style is similar to Kenpo in Shonen Jump issue one.

Yeah, it's a hard question to answer, given that most of it is unique to several characters. Note, for instance, the fighting stance Goku takes. It is unique to him, and is commented on during the 21st Tenkaichi Budokai as being "a wretched defense...so full of holes!" by a competitor whom Goku defeats on the next page :P

Besides, most of the training involves techniques and ki blasts, not basic fighting, which Dragonball even glosses over by saying that Goku learned martial arts from his grandfather and Kuririn learned it from the temple he was studying at. Toriyama seems to intentionally avoid both the use of specific real-world fighting styles (probably because he didn't want to have to accurately represent them, or be limited by them) as well as scenes depicting training of basic fighting styles (which, except as a how-to, would probably pretty boring to the average reader).
SJ Dragonball Graphic Novel, Volume 9, page 60. That is all.
