This is an inconsistency. This is just a different between the manga and the anime, which isn’t a big deal.Mercenary wrote:I get that many of you guys are Hit's fans but I am not trying to "dehype" him or something like that. I just wanted to point out that such inconsistencies are not really good for the franchise at all, because we should know how much of a serious guy Hit is.
I think Toei gave Hit's fans false hope (as for his strength in particular)

Disagree with all of those examples other than Vegeta jobs to Black. Just because one character is stronger than the other doesn't mean the other character is jobbing. When I say Hit might job means Hit might not use his improvments ability, would fight stupidly and overall would not use his full abilities in the fight, which is sadly something that happens when you want the character to lose to another one with ease. A good example is Goku vs the 3 wolves from universe 9, or basically Gohan in this entire TOP so far.Jigurashi wrote:It's happened since OG DB. Goku jobs to Tao, Yamcha jobs to Tenshinhan, Tenshinhan jobs to Drum, Vegeta jobs to Recoome, Vegeta jobs to Cell, Gohan jobs to Bootenks, Goku jobs to Beerus, Vegeta jobs to Hitto, Vegeta jobs to Black. It's happened all across the series.Amir wrote:I'm sorry. Re: I think Toei gave Hit's fans false hope (as for his strength in particular)
That isn’t what jobbing means. Jobbing means a strong character losing to another character to put them over. Tv Tropes call this the Worf Effect.Amir wrote:Disagree with all of those examples other than Vegeta jobs to Black. Vegeta jobbed to Black to show the power of Super Saiyan Rose. Goku didn’t job to U9 since he beat them.

Goku fought this brand new character in Tao who no-selled everything he threw at him and then Tao one-shots with a Dodon Ray, hyping Tao up by having Goku job to him. Yamcha was given the task as a fairly powerful and competent fighter to job to Tenshinhan, the current main antagonist to show how good Ten is. Tenshinhan use to be Goku's equal but was demolished by Drum (jobbed to him) to show off how much stronger Drum and then by virtue Goku is. Vegeta got demolished by Recoome to show off how great Recoome and therefore how much greater Goku is by comparison. Vegeta is three-shotted by Perfect Cell to show off just how much of a power jump Cell's perfect form is. Gohan as the current strongest dude around gets bodied by Bootenks to show how much this guy has improved. The same thing with Beerus. New character, SSJ3 Goku gets trashed to hype him up. Vegeta gets bodied by Hitto to show off how strong Hitto is, and how much greater Goku is in comparison for going further against him.
Every fight I listed is an example of characters jobbing. Fights that characters lose where it isn't jobbing are fights like Goku VS Jackie Chun, Goku VS Tenshinhan, Goku VS Vegeta, Goku VS Ginyu, Goku VS Cell, Goku VS Pure Boo, Goku VS Beerus II, Goku VS Hitto.

I would say Blue jobbed to Tao since Blue gave Goku a lot of trouble.Jigurashi wrote:You can disagree, but what I said was true.Amir wrote:Disagree with all of those examples other than Vegeta jobs to Black. Lol you're right, he did. I just don't see why this fanbase (in general) doesn't really seem to know what jobbing is. Like it's just used to describe any character losing or looking bad when that's not what jobbing is.HeroR wrote:I would say Blue jobbed to Tao since Blue gave Goku a lot of trouble.Jigurashi wrote:You can disagree, but what I said was true.Amir wrote: Disagree with all of those examples other than Vegeta jobs to Black. Re: I think Toei gave Hit's fans false hope (as for his strength in particular)
In general, most fans don’t know what job means. To them, it’s a catch all phase for losing or losing badly. Like fans say Goku jobbed throughout Super when he has only jobbed to Beerus in Battle of Gods and Jiren from the looks of it if you don’t count Kale and the U3 guy.Jigurashi wrote: Lol you're right, he did. Re: I think Toei gave Hit's fans false hope (as for his strength in particular)
Okey so if jobbing has nothing to do with characters losing because they don't use their abilities like they should in maximum effectiveness, or because they act stupid and thus they lose when they could actually win then forget about it, it's not the right word.
Re: I think Toei gave Hit's fans false hope (as for his strength in particular)
I think the word you're looking for is something like CIS. Which typically stands for Character induced stupidity. Where characters don't use moves to their maximum potential or even at all in some cases when it would be ideal to do so. Of course you also have to take into consideration of the character's personality as well. For example, Goku could potentially just seal away every opponent he comes across in DB from here on out with Mafuba, but that is not in character for him to do so as he prefers to have the best fight he can get and would only do that if he has no other choice. Yeah, it's reckless of him, but that's Goku. Now if Hitto is different since he's a more no nonsense kind of guy.Amir wrote:Okey so if jobbing has nothing to do with characters losing because they don't use their abilities like they should in maximum effectiveness, or because they act stupid and thus they lose when they could actually win then forget about it, it's not the right word.
