This is not true at all, lol. Most if not all have ASL and German, some have Latin and Italian, and a decent portion has at least a Asian culture class, where they might teach you Japanese and Mandarin Chinese.precita wrote: Unless you're speaking of College courses, most regular High Schools don't teach anything outside spanish or french.

My high school taught Spanish, Japanese and French. Guess which one I took? Additionally, it previously taught German back when my brother attended.
The United States likes to paint itself as the greatest nation on the Earth, as some great mixing pot, but the reality of the situation is that despite it's 900+ military bases worldwide and its massive population and landmass it is without a doubt the most xenophobic and imperial nation on this planet we call Earth. I live in an area with a tremendous population of non-Whites, yet we don't teach anything about the island nations and teach next to nothing about Korea unless it involves North Korea being run by crazy hermits. I can't turn around without bumping into a Korean expat and yet our media doesn't even acknowledge this or portray the lives of first/second generation Korean-Americans.
The United States is sheltered like a child sheltered from the world by their fundamentalist parents. If we taught half the shit we should about modern European nations or Canada our youth would have toppled the current legion of corporate politicians thirty-five years ago.
