Watching this one while I write up the thread for week 11.

Episode 45

I honestly really like this episode.

I love Yamucha being utterly useless at dealing with having a fight with Bulma. Because of course he would -- he'd never been so much as able to SPEAK to a girl before he met her (and he still gets super-nervous when he meets Husky, of course), so obviously he'd be bad at handling relationship stuff.
Bulma should probably cut him some slack and try to talk to him... And honestly, she's being pretty shitty to him in general; throwing a fit because he's popular with women... It seems he's nothing but faithful to her, so... If she doesn't like the attention he's getting, the mature thing is to just talk to him a bit.
Then again, maturity was never Bulma's strong suit.

Anyway, Bulma being a bit shitty, and Yamucha having relationship troubles is a pretty solid setup for the episode. Even if it does feel like a bit of an odd diversion from the main Red Ribbon storyline.
The point of Dragon Ball is to enjoy it. Never lose sight of that.

This does at least give later plausibility to why their relationship doesn't work and disintegrates in Z. They're totally incompatible with each other!

She was definitely being way too hard on Yamcha at times especially here in these particular episodes like the ones where Goku visits Bulma in the city and Husky, so going off the wall berserk with irrational jealousy every time he so much as even looked at other women besides her because overreacting over those type of things seemed to be the recurring thing with her at that age and all. I surely wouldn't like being in his position in a relationship with a girl who does that, and it's clear that he simply couldn't keep her happy as a boyfriend no matter how hard he'd tried especially considering how much they seemed to fight over every little thing when together.

Agreed. Yamcha isn't cut to handle that kind of behaviour (he couldn't articulate a point to save his life), but Bulma is arguably most at fault for not understanding the situation AT ALL. I know Dragon Ball isn't realistic but sheesh!

Indeed, especially with that one part with Husky in particular because she completely overreacted and outright assaulted him in an irrational fit of maniacal rage due to immediately assuming something was going on which wasn't at all (Yamcha wasn't fooling around with Husky, not even remotely) and didn't give him so much as a courtesy chance to explain that he wasn't flirting with the former and that he was actually in a rather dire situation when she did that. Honestly, i'm surprised he didn't come to his senses sooner and decide "enough is enough" then break it off with her for good after that point because i surely would if i were in his shoes. The writing was already on the wall at that point, it was only a matter of time.
