Lifespan of a Saiya-jin

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

I'm new to the forum and was just wondering if anyone could answer these questions:

1. What is the average lifespan of a saiyan, assuming they are not killed in battle?

2. How powerful is Super Saiyan 3? At this stage, can Goku destroy a galaxy?
What up tenchi03, may I suggest starting an introduction thread?

1. Other than my theory that saiya-jin live forever :D (jk). I think their skin just dosen't age but they still could have normal life spans, but that is just a naive perspective from a vaguely informed Dragonball fan so you probably don't want to use it.

2. I don't understand how you could destroy a galaxy because wouldn't that include all the empty space within the galaxy? :? Nevertheless Goku's Super Saiya-jin 3 could probably destroy all contents of a galaxy if using his instant transmission and multiple attacks at once.

How ya doing tenchi03? Welcome to Daizex! Anyway.

1. Well, there is that little quote Vegeta makes that full blooded Saiyans keep their youthful period longer so in turn they can fight longer. (Makes sense don't it?) I'm not sure if that means they live longer or not, but I'll wager a guess they live longer then the average humanoid at least.

2. Well..... it depends on what your idea of "powerful" is, I'd say it'd definitely be enough to say destroy maybe our Solar System, but not the galaxy. But maybe there's someone out there..... (To quote Naruto dub) BELIEVE IT!

Hey, whats going on Tenchi03. I know you've heard the intro suggestion at least ten times so I'll lay off. Anyway to answer your questions:

1) I like to think they could live as long as humans. They just wouldn't look their age. If anything, all of the fighting would build stress and stuff. Saiyans should have grey roots and bad hearts.

2) I was going to say exactly what Ma Junior was saying. First you steal my name.... But yeah, if Freeza could do damage to Namek at his level, then small ki blasts and even powering up should shatter the planet.

I missed out on all of the DB Movie fun, huh?
Point blank: it's gonna suck if you want it to. Personally, I'm seeing it as a comedy.

Just felt like throwing my 2 cents into the hat.

1) There's no reason to jump to any conclusion that the Saiya-jins natural life-span is any different than a humans, only that they age at a different rate. Sort of like dogs, the way a puppy reaches adulthood quickly and then keeps that "prime" comparatively longer than any human.

2) "How powerful" is a troublesome question that could end up going several pages long if VegettoEX didn't step in and stop the insanity. Suffice to say, it's stronger than anything that had come before it (Fat Buu included, and all characters and transformations) but I think it would also be safe to say that anything/anyone introduced afterwards was just a new pinacle of power until the climax. (Super Buu, SSJ3 Gotenks, Gohan after having his potential unlocked, and of course Buu sucking up everyone before and then getting bettered by Vegetto.)

I think it would be reasonable to assume Goku could destroy the galaxy at that point, ignoring "science" and all that stuff that makes life less Super. Just transforming, Goku caused a huge earthquake that rocked all the characters, even on Kami's Lookout. So, it's not the "power" part of the equation that would stop him from destroying the Galaxy... but if Goku's attention span can hold long enough to destroy all those billions of things.

Wait did they really say they passed Jupiter? I thought there weren't any of our solar system's planets in the DragonBall world.

DragonBall Z Vol. 5, page 61:

Bulma: "And why don't you tell this thing to fly?!"

Mr. Popo: "To where?"

Bulma: "Wherever! For starters, how 'bout... around Jupiter!"

*Mr. Popo speaks Nemekian and the ship takes off*

Bulma: "Yyyyyyyyup... That's Jupiter, all right!"

I would just like to point out, though, that in the Manga, even though things are shown in panels, it seems as though they reach Jupiter in a matter of seconds rather than minutes.

That applies for all sciences, too.

Going by realworld biology, Saiyajin and Humans are the same species because if they weren't Pan wouldn't exist because Gohan would be unable to have offspring since he's a crossbreed.

It takes 6 months to get to Mars, not over year.

Our solar system is there, just like Earth. The difference is that it's a different Earth.
1. Create an explosion strong enough to a) cross 100,000 lightyears of space without losing strength during its expansion, b) tear apart stars, while c) not vaporizing yourself? Hardy har har. The goddamn universe can't pull that kind of explosion off, how is some little carbon speck going to?

2. The speed limit. The explosion can't travel faster than light, so even if it is strong enough (), it'd take at least 50,000 years to engulf the galaxy (assuming you're at the center, which is a bad idea). Most likely much more. Not exactly "all at once".
So... A guy even stronger than the most poweful god in existance, who can bend and destroy the very fabric of reality, can't generate an explosion with enough power to wipe out a galaxy? Don't forget, we've already got people growing new arms, transforming, time traveling, flying, blowing up planets, going into the afterlife at will, and traveling faster than light (in ships and on their own).

Oh, and "all at once" means in one blast, duh.

I was thinking of a manned mission to Mars. You know that sort of thing can't be pulled off within 6 months on a normal Earth. Will all the preperation and so forth it does take at least a year.

Oh what the craziness! I guess I just never thought about it since I can't remember them animating or seeing any drawings of our solar system's planets in DB. And the Jupiter ref was just that 1 line that I didn't remember. Forgive me >_<

Yup. Have you heard of quasars? They're supermassive black holes at the edge of the observable universe, eating about 1000 solar masses of material a day. The average one has a luminosity of 10^40 (that's 100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000) Watts, blasting out more energy than thousands of regular galaxies.

But, these mega-black holes still have stars orbiting them, forming a galaxy with the quasar at its core. These galaxies are not destroyed, despite the unholy amounts of power being put out by the quasar.

No, Goku cannot destroy a galaxy.

I always took that as that he did it by basically going around beating up one part at a time.
