I never had a problem with Piccolo killing Grandpa Gohan (although it does make you wonder if they ever planned on tackling Piccolo’s eventual redemption), but Goku being an insecure high school student with a crush on Chi-Chi was definitely going too far.Peach wrote: Thu Apr 30, 2020 1:05 pmYep. Piccolo kills Gohan when Goku is a teenager and ditches his Grandpa for a party at Chichi's house.mancini wrote: Thu Apr 30, 2020 12:22 am Dragon Ball: Evolution, I didn't try even to watch it upon bad feedback from friends. According to their opinions, there is a connection to original source material and said Grandpa Gohan was alive which was something abnormal and unwanted.

Re: Unwatched Movies/Specials
Those first two Dragon Ball films managed to miss my radar, as they were rather elusive in physical format back when that was a concern and I would’ve been most interested. Though, didn’t they have a run in a collection with the other Dragon Ball features at Walmart in the states some years ago? Either way, between that and hearing they are rehashes, my motivation to track them down was never particularly high. Though I’m sure I’ll get around to it one day.
Also, my motivation to catch the Super DB Heroes episodes vanished about half-way through. It was like watching animated Xenoverse battles in that stale, digital art style.

I was Thanos before the MCU existed!

FWIW, only the first of the OG DB movies is a rehash. The second is kinda a rehash in its first few minutes, to establish the point in the story it takes place in (that is, when Goku and Kuririn meet and each want to train under Roshi), but aside from those first few minutes, the movie is -- for all intents and purposes -- its own standalone story.Thanos wrote: Thu Apr 30, 2020 3:48 pm Those first two Dragon Ball films managed to miss my radar, as they were rather elusive in physical format back when that was a concern and I would’ve been most interested. Agreed about Super DB Heroes. I watched maybe two or three episodes, then realised I had zero desire to watch any more.
The point of Dragon Ball is to enjoy it. Never lose sight of that.
