Tas, I mentioned Shin Budokai after I made my current list. I own the game, but I don't own a PSP yet. (Waiting for the tax return check next year) So maybe my list will get re-ordered if I end up liking that game as much as you do. I really wish I could try it out, but I just don't have the money for a PSP right now and probably won't until next year. I grabbed the game anyway because I saw it at a Target store for $19.99 and wanted to grab it before it was gone for good from stores.

Shin Budokai really is an improvement over B3, but they could have added a little bit more. They had plenty of room to put in more charecters or levels. I had a friend check how much space was used for the game, and I can't quite remember exactly, but it was around 700MB out of around 2GIGs.(1.8 to be exact.) I would have loved to see some charecters like Goten or Kid Trunks. I guess the REAL reason was because the game was designed after the "Fusion Reborn" movie. I think they added JUST enough to fill the movie. Enough Ranting. :)

1. Sparking Neo

2. Budokai 3

3. Shin Budokai

4. Hyper Dimension

5. Dragon Ball for the Original Game Boy..(The japanese one, not that horribble card game. I don't quite remember the name either. I'll look it up. )
PLAY B3YOND.

I've thought this for awhile now, but I always kinda assumed that the producer of the Sparking series (Ryo Mito or whatever) intentionaly cut back on things to worsen it in comparision to the (at the time) recently released Sparking. For instance Sparking didn't have multiple costumes per character, so that feature was cut, and/or Sparking didn't have in game transformations so SB was limited to one per character, and so on and so fourth.

It would've been better over all had we gotten more of a PSP port of a B3, but with all the updates SB included.

I like all of the PS2 games, except for Sagas(which I've never played), I think Sparking Neo was worth buying after you had experienced the shallowness of Sparking, sure it was something different and it had more characters but Budokai 3 offered the better gameplay experience all around.

I thought Sparking Neo dded a lot of nice little touches here and there that overall vastly contributed to the fun (like the addition of the little gameplay mechanics), but it didn't really compare to Budokai 3, I think because Budokai 3 made a huge impact on me and I was most excited for it than any other.

Super DBZ was a breath of fresh air, and it didn't really have a lack of characters like some would say, I thought every character was worth playing as because they had something different, which is more than I can say for the Sparking games (not that I don't like them!).

Favourites (including all platforms);

1.Budokai 3
2.Super DBZ
3.Sparking Neo
4.Supersonic Warriors 2
5.Buu's fury
6.DBZ Legends.
7.Advanced Adventure

Since the Sparking Neo impressions thread is a fair ways down, I just gonna put my thoughts on BT2 here as well as my list.

I've resisted the temptation to post my thoughts on BT2 only a day or two after getting it, but now I've had well over a week with it, I feel I can post a more fair judgement.

And you know what? To hell with it, I'm gonna say: Sparking Neo/Budokai Tenkaichi 2 is the 3D DBZ Legends I've been waiting for for all these years, and in my book that puts it at the top of my favourite DBZ games. It was what I expected the first game to be, but that failed miserably. Outside the elements it borrowed from B3, not much seemed to be added to the main fighting engine, but the subtle yet significnt addtions made a lot of difference (like being able to follow up on an attack while the opponent is still flying from a previous attack in mid-flight, straight out of Legends!) and along with a better camera creates the DBZ fighting experience I look to actually participate in a DBZ game (which where I think B3 is slightly overrated, where you wacth more than fight in the supposed 'DBZ elements').

As for other notable games, although as I said, I think Budokai 3 is slightly overrated, it's still a fun game, and was the DBZ game I was playing most on a fairly regular basis prior to getting BT2, even after two years after it's original release, so fair play to it for its longevity, something that BT2 will have to prove if its gonna be my long term favourite. As for Super DBZ, I loved it at first, manga presentation et al but I found myself playing it less and less. I dunno why, but while it was nice to have a traditional beat-em-up using DBZ characters, it's almost like it got lost in what I look for in particular games when I'm in a particular mood. For an example, if I wanted to play a beat-em-up, I'll play Tekken 5, if I wanted to play a 'DBZ Fighting Game', I'll play B3/BT2. SDBZ fairly or unfairly just got lost in the shuffle for me.

And just to round things off, I enjoyed Legendary Super Warriors on the Game Boy Color immensely when I played through it first time round.

So currently I'll list my favourites as:

1. DBZ: Sparking Neo/Budokai Tenkaichi 2 (PS2)

2. DBZ: Budokai 3 (PS2)

3= DBZ: Legends (PS1)

3= Super DBZ (PS2)

5. DBZ: Legendary Super Warriors (GBC)

Well, in a surprise move, my parents bought me a PSP for Christmas. I didn't ask for one, or even say anything about the thing. Glad to have it though, because I've finally gotten to try out Shin Budokai that I bought for $20 awhile back. The game truly is great, especially considering it is a portable title. I like the way you do the super moves a lot. The Powering up with the L button keeps throwing me off, because I still want to hold guard and double tap back often.

For what it is, the game impressed me more than I thought it would. Looks really sharp on the PSP display too. After I have played a bit further and unlocked some more stuff, I will try to do an honest comparison and see how it stacks up against the rest of my list.
