Not in Japan they don’t. Goku Son also completely ruins the reference to Journey to the West.

Back on Neoseeker's Dragon Ball Forum in 2009, and on Original Shinden, Shinden Reborn, Shinden Revived, Frankie Shinden 1.5, Frankie Shinden 2.0, and Yoshi Shinden, I used to call Son Goku Son Kakarot, Krillin Kuririn, Bulma Buruma, Piccolo before he fused with Nail Piccolo Junior, Kamiccolo The Nameless Namek, and Yamcha Yamucha Of The Desert.
