Freeza might be boring if not for the complex character backstories...
King Cold underestimated his opponent... Ah yes, the only time that King Cold sounded remotely good in the dub: his conversation with Trunks after Freeza got lacerated...

I agree, though it could still have worked for him to fight Vegeta, Piccolo, etc... before Trunks arrives. It would further demonstrate how powerful Trunks was imo:

"Whoa, this guy is tough! Not even Vegeta can come close to even tickling him! Looks like all is lost for the earth ; ; .... Oh man a new SSJ!!? Wha? He just killed King Cold that easily? He must REALLY be stronger than the others by far!"

It wouldn't have to be a drawn out filler saga like Garlic Jr, just a few eps.... OR they could have done away with the Garlic Jr saga altogether and have Freeza-bot and King Cold with their own little filler saga. But I'm sure many people wouldn't have liked that since we just saw so much of Freeza to that point.

Well, personally I would love to have seen more of King Cold. I mean yeah he was pretty much there just to show how strong Trunks was, but still if I'm not mistaken in the manga Krillin (yeah I use dub names get over it!) states that he feels Freeza's ki as well as a larger one. This could mean that King Cold is stronger than Freeza. Thus leading to more questions about how if neither Goku or Trunks showed up how the fight on Earth would have went and if King Cold would have demonstrated a power far beyond his son's. Although we never really see much on the so called empire it would be nice to how how Freeza's family came to be so powerful and where they came from. Also Cooler is just awesome, I mean come on who can't love that pimp face mask of his!? Not to mention the fact that although rude to his father he never really showed signs of hate to him. Could this lead to the fact that King Cold really is stronger than Freeza? You'd think if he was stronger, then Freeza would have merely killed his father. As Mike, Julian, and Meri have said "Freeza eats babies...and he enjoys it" This leads to thinking that King Cold is stronger than Freeza. I know a bunch of people might think this and think I'm stupid about wondering about it, but you never know. "Sigh" If only we could've seen more of King Cold.

The use of the name 'Krillin' isn't much of an issue. It's just when we get into stuff like 'Pikkon' and 'Hercule' that people get ticked off

When I read the manga, I pretty much admired Freeza. I love how he can seem calm, aristocratic, polite, yet when angered he can be destructive, defiant, and dangerous. I remember Freeza saying in one of the volumes..'I do not wish to kill you..rather I will show you hell beyond death!

Cooler was more different. He didn't have Freeza's manner of handling things, he was more or less straight to the point. And I barely remember much of King Cold, other than him being possibly on the sidelines, since it looked like his son was more or less the king =)

I like Freeza best in his first form.
