Who is Your Favorite Character Per Main Arc in Dragon Ball?

21st TB: It would be Muten Roshi if it wasn't for his perverted side, so Goku takes it. Namu gets close.

I wanted to say Namu. I liked all his fights, his sense of honor, his naivety, and his heroic side.

Piccolo Daimao: His theme instantly plays in my head, that elevates the character by at least one tier.

It has no right to be that good and catchy!

Saiyans: That chilling final Kikoho keeps Tenshinhan very near the top, but I think I have to give it to Piccolo.

I also wanted to put Tenshinhan near the top. The death of Chaozu and his final Kikoho were all incredibly iconic moments. Gohan and Piccolo just had so much more development and equally if not moreso iconic moments.

I look at GT now as "Goku's final hurrah," so I also don't really mind that he's at the forefront (that and because he's, well, the main character). But I legitimately love how Goku is written in GT, even while being in a kid's body. To me he feels wiser, more seasoned, and idk, there's just a quiet calm about him amidst the same desire to get stronger. The blue gi serves as a visual reminder that he's at a different place in his journey. He's a grandfather as well, and his love for Pan is very apparent throughout the entire series.

I do love these aspects of GT Goku.

Side note, any non-vote for GT I'm going to take as an automatic vote for Evil Bulma across the board.

Android: This one's a weird one. There are a lot of great characters, but none of them get enough screen time (or page time in the manga) to really reach their potential in the story. Gohan plays a big role later on in the arc, but I don't think he had enough build up during the arc. Same goes with Trunks, he plays a big role in the beginning but then gets sidelined later on. I wanna say Trunks is my favourite, but I wish he did more.

I'm much on the same page, although I voted Trunks and Goku. I wanted to say Gohan, but Idk, he's not really an active agent in his moments late in the Cell saga. They're still great moments for him, but it just feels all of a sudden. I also really like 18, so maybe her...? But yeah, the shifting around on characters in the Cell arc makes it difficult to choose, plus Vegeta got on my nerves here lol. Unfortunately Trunks never shined as much as in his entrance, but I like his general character, backstory, and personality traits so he got my vote.

That's probably one of my biggest issues with DBS. I don't feel that much has changed since Z regardless of how many years have passed. They got new colorful transformations, but other than that almost everyone looks the same (especially Goten and Trunks) and most of cast is the same. It just feels like next DBZ episodes rather than something new. GT felt like next step in story kinda like Z was (which is funny considering manga has always been just "Dragon Ball"). In GT characters have changed and we got different main cast focused on Pan, Giru and Trunks. That's cool. I feel like Goku and Vegeta should've kept their RoF outfits for the rest of Super. That would already be some improvement.

Totally on the same page with everything you said. It's a legitimate gripe for me as well.

DBS is too washed out for me to be able to pick characters from certain arcs, so i will say Kefla overall cause i actually liked her. Hit and Ribrianne were okay too.

Pan is actually my favourite character in entire franchise. Can't wait to see how DBS Super Hero handles her as she seems to have somewhat significant role in that movie.

I'd like to change my vote and have Giru as my favorite character from the Search for DBs arc from GT. I like his dynamic with Pan and Trunks, even though I find early Pan annoying. He's a nice character, cute, funny and gets to "shine" when they get to planet M2. He's sidelined after they return to Earth, sadly.

And now I want to rewatch that arc, lol .

His relationship with Pan is one of the better relationships in franchise imo. It starts with Pan hating and bullying him, but in the end she cries when she sees him destroyed by Baby and carries him for the rest of arc in her backpack. I also love how happy she is in last episode after he is brought back by Shenron. Too bad we don't know what happened to him after that as 100 years later he isn't there with Pan anymore. I think it would be cool if we got old Pan still hanging around with him or perhaps passing him to Goku Jr.

I like the trio Giru-Pan-Trunks, they all have so much fun with different relationships between each other.

And yeah, I wish Giru was still around after the 100 years time skip, he is a robot after all, created by Myu... or maybe even with Bulma's descendence since she's a genius and all. He ate Bulma's dragon radar after all.
Giru tagging alongside Goku Jr. would've been nice too. I haven't watch that but maybe Giru would've made his journey a little easier.

I'm also most excited for Pan's role in Super Hero (as well as Piccolo regaining some prominence). While I know Goku is Dragon Ball, if the franchise keeps moving forward, I think the new blood will give new life to it. And regarding Pan's relationship with Giru, I absolutely agree. It ended up being probably the sweetest relationship in GT, apart from Pan and Goku.
