You take Toriyama's name off of the Super Manga and it would sell considerably less, hence why despite his very limited contributions they play up his name a lot in marketing.
Do we have evidences that "Dragon Ball GT flopped" in the first place?
Kinda, considering that GT not only didn't have the same high TV ratings its predecessors did, but it's also considered the black sheep of the franchise. It kinda did flop TBH
Generally, things that "flop", don't get to finish out their run.

Not denying that the show was not as good a Z, whose metrics are we using?

It may have actually been more successful than they initially thought. Is there any interview where someone in charge said how long they assumed they'd go? It feels like the Baby arc was the going to be the finale of the whole show.

I’ve always been under the impression that GT marked the point when Dragon Ball was officially past its heyday, but I don’t think I’ve ever heard any concrete numbers for how it performed in terms of ratings and merchandise. Did Final Bout sell well in Japan?

Anyway, yeah, the fact that BoG began development without Toriyama’s involvement is probably as good an indication as any that Toriyama doesn’t really own the IP. Hell, if he did, DBE probably never would’ve been made.

We know it averaged 14 percent in the ratings. It never fell below 9 percent.

Those aren't bad ratings in the slightest.

I wonder how well BoG would've done without Toriyama. Maybe $20-30 million? I could see it doing a little better than the old films worldwide but not close to what it did after Toriyama's involvement.

Toei’s idea for the movie sounded like a pretty bland rehash of the Baby arc from GT. It probably would’ve been seen as just another DBZ movie, except longer, presumably. As much as I’m not too keen on the Super era these days, BoG was a genuine breathe of fresh air at the time that managed to generate new interest in Dragon Ball. I doubt Toei’s version would’ve done that.

Does spiderman belong to marvel or to Zeb Wells And John Romita Jr.?

Dragon Ball belongs to Shueisha and Toei Animation. It would be very silly to think that they would not at least ask Toriyama about the future of Dragon Ball, before doing anything.

I have heared rumors that he is becoming senile and might ask his son to take are of his affairs now, sounds like my own dad you know, but
until the time that he does something as what George Lucas did when he sold Starwars to Disney or the moment he dies, it will be like that.

I don't know what rumors you're referring to, but he probably doesn't. Only around 1 percent of people in their 60s have senility. 5 percent for the 70s, 25 for the 80s. Most people in their 60s and 70s are just normal adults like anyone else.
