Some people think it’s because of her DUIs, but I honestly have trouble believing that’s the reason, especially since it went under the radar for the longest time. Meanwhile, Nadolny speculates it’s because of a vindictive ex who may have been involved with FUNimation, while Chuck Huber, in an attempt to clear Vic Mignogna’s name, went into conspiracy territory by claiming it was because of a casting couch situation.
The fact that they actually planned to keep using Linda Young for Kai is baffling. Also Chuck Huber is a flat Earther so I think we can safely throw all of his opinions out the window where they belong.
Well, Linda Young was still an active employee at FUNimation, and since they were already bringing back most of their actors who were still available to reprise their roles, it makes sense that she would be included.

As for Chuck Huber’s claims, I highly doubt they’re true myself. As I recall, Huber even tried to cover his ass by claiming that it was a rumor he supposedly heard, rather than something he had actual concrete proof of.

Yes, and given that Linda's laugh (hard to tell if that was newly recorded by her or was recycled old audio) is the one heard when the flashback to Bardock's death from the end of the special comes in ep 1 of Kai this says to me they were indeed planning to have her return as Freeza. Until it came to the point of them (Sabat.etc) realizing that she couldn't keep pace with the newer, faster more posh dialogue keeping in line with the Japanese VA Ryusei Nakao and them doing a more accurate take of the character as compared to the adrogynous space alien depiction/Pauline Newstone impression she did back in the old Z dub. Thus, by the time it came to Freeza appearing in person in Kai the decision was made to recast the role with Chris Ayres.
DB collection related goals as of now:

1.) Find decent priced copy of Dragon Box Z Vol. 4 (Done)

2.) Collect rest of manga

3.) Get rest of Daizenshuu (2-7)

Funimation were clearly trying to keep as much of the legacy cast as possible for Kai. Ideally they should have done what Ocean did and reauditioned every character, because while they would have run the risk of alienating the fanbase it would have done a world of good for their dub.

We've seen recasting kid Gohan was polarising as is, I don't hear as much complaints about Funimation's decision to recast Freeza but there are some Linda Young loyalists out there who were unhappy with it. Hell Chris Ayres wasn't well received as Freeza in the beginning, it took some time for the praise from purists to change the narrative to make it seem like his casting was a near universally loved decision. See also Brian Drummond being loved as Vegeta (at least in the Saban dub) but back in 1996 his performance was widely disparaged.

I suspect a lot of people didn't notice Linda Young's laugh being kept in episode 1, I didn't when I first seen Kai because it was so brief.

Hey guys, I’m seeing rumors on social media about Stephanie Nadolny reprising her role as Kid Goku in Dragonball Diama. Is there any truth to this? I hope so! I know Clickenbeard has had the role for a while now, but all that’s amounted to is some DBZ Kai flashbacks and video game dialogue. Nadolny is still what you hear when you watch Dragonball or GT to this day, and I think bringing Nadolny back for Daima will make things more consistent.

There has, as of now, been no official announcement of Stephanie Nadolny reprising her role as Goku.

The amount of people taking the Nadolny rumor and spreading it as fact is ridiculous. It also doesn't help when people spreading the rumor as a "report" don't include that it's just a wild claim from a YouTuber with no factual evidence to back it up, and could just as, if not more likely be wrong.

It's highly likely Nadolny will be voicing Mini Goku, but I wouldn't say it's been confirmed today. The names of the English dub voice actors of the characters (both existing and new characters) aren't revealed in the English dub trailer.

It's 100% clearly Nadolny in that trailer. For anyone who's heard her Goku or Gohan for any length of time it's obvious it's her, and I'm amazed people are even questioning it at this point.

It was already hard to deny it would be true when first 'reported' and it's definitely true now. Comments seem mostly positive on YouTube and Facebook from what I've seen.

Brother, if you heard that voice in the trailer and still think that isn't Stephanie Nadolny then you may need to get your ears checked.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

Wow, I could not have been more wrong if I tried. Everything that we know about Nadolny's relationship to Funimation. Not being in the clique, supposedly being disliked by Sabat, not being asked to voice the kid Goku variants for Sparking Zero (I double checked the GT trailer for reference), all pointed in the direction of her not coming back. Color me surprised.
I probably won't watch more than a few clips for comparison to the JP version, but wow.

Looks like I was mistaken. You guys are right, it is definitely Nadolny in the trailer.

Oh well I'll be a monkey's uncle, Nadolny did come back.

I guess it shouldn't be too surprising since Funimation has always been big on fan feedback, but I'm still shocked.
