They not that good. They should look like kids and not chibis. I feel like Salvamakoto did a good job on how I felt like the designs should have look like.

Both these Salvamakoto drawings look so much better than what we got! I wish Daima's were closer to this.
On hiatus.

I wish they had just let a different artist do the character designs. The whole "try to mimic the original manga artist's style as much as possible" trend that began with One Piece Film: Strong World has been a creative strangehold on these kind of projects. Bring back the days of Tate Naoki and Sushio doing insane character designs in their own styles, please.

And then Sailor Moon Crystal happened...

I never watched past the first twelve episodes or whatever, but goddamn, those animation character designs were awful. The lousy production schedule and lack of staff didn't help, either.

The kagenashi films that were being produced in the 2000s were so good, I hate how Toei Animation specifically moved away from those in favor of more detailed designs and on-model animation.

It annoys me that Ox-King of all people is the only one whose Mini design actually harkens back to his retro manga appearance in a fun way. They should've been similarly creative with the other designs. Maybe when they first transform into kids, their outfits all spontaneously change to whatever they wore at that age, i.e. Goku's blue robe, Vegeta's shoulder pads (and both Saiyans would have tails again). Some of them would immediately ask Piccolo to clothes-beam them into their smaller versions of their standard outfits, while others would prefer to stay in their classic fits. At least Roshi uses his new youthful body to try on some new looks.

I just feel they could have had more fun with the premise of the entire cast de-ageing while maintaining their current personalities. Some examples:
- #18 should revert to her full human form before her cyborg implants, and considering the series' heavy emphasis on lore reveals, it could've been an opportune moment to officially reveal her birth name, Lazuli, in-universe.
- Yamcha would no longer have scars.
- Piccolo would defuse from Kami and Nail.
- Kid Buu could return, but with the docile personality of Fat Buu.

I prefer what we got over those, tbh. But I also shamelessly prefer widow's peak kid Vegeta lol.

Kinda wish he had a slightly different/modified outfit like Goku does though.
