What’s the next rehash project from Dragon Ball?

The Shadow Dragons.
I thought the Tamagami were going to be that, but not even close.
With so many sets, the chances of them getting rehased obviously increases.

Same. It's such a shame, they could have really done a lot to flesh out some sort of rival relationship between the Tamagami and the characters, but it felt like there was zero oomph put into making those characters more substantial.Koitsukai wrote: Thu Mar 20, 2025 1:28 pm The Shadow Dragons.

Oh that's true. She was a new female Saiyan with the same form and then Toriyama's version of Broly. This time would just be Toei rebooting one of their own characters but in a different continuity again since the Baby saga was already kind of a reboot of Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans.Zephyr wrote: Wed Mar 19, 2025 12:40 pmTo be fair, Kale existing didn't exactly prevent them from re-imagining Broli.

zamazu was the last good original db villain. Nothing but recolor and redesign since then. Infact i would say the ssg was the last good db transformation Ssg's recolor can be justified as it had that extra dash of lean body and calmness it held a meaning. Ultra instinct? Concept yeah, but visually? Recolor. Idk how they thought it would be acceptable to recolour frieza, cell, ssj, ssj4. I think the way how fanbase accepted ssg gave them the idea that recolour is enough to please the fans and we ate that up.

Goku Black or Zamasu. They're the most iconic villains from modern Dragon Ball, thus it makes more sense to "rehash" one of them (or both) for modern Dragon Ball, rather than some obscure villain from 30 years old movies.
In fact, Heroes knows where the money lies and they've already rehashed both Black and Zamasu in their own individual arcs.

Akira Toriyama, DBS vol.4 joint interview with ToyotaroAt his core Zamasu is good like Shin, though I guess you could say he was so fastidious that it backfired. But you know, for this "Future Trunks Arc" you had to depict Zamasu and Trunks' inner conflict, right? If this was back when I was drawing the manga myself then I doubt if I could have done it. I mean, I'm not very good at depicting the characters' psychology on the page. So this all came together because now I only have to think up the story. [...] On my own, I doubt I would have been able to express Zamasu's fall to the dark side.

Heroes brought back almost every villain in the entire franchise. Goku Black and Zamasu are from Super so having them come back would be continuing their story. It's not really the same rebooting a villain from an older different continuity.SupremeKai25 wrote: Fri Mar 21, 2025 3:23 pm Goku Black or Zamasu. Cooler is too good not to use from a writing perspective. We've never had Cooler and Freeza alive at the same time, imagine how hype the Freeza-Cooler War Arc could be. Black Freeza vs. Golden Cooler fighting over Broly or territory or idk maybe something funny lol
Baby could get redone I guess. I don't have a ton of interest in it but there's something there. I think the original Super 17 arc is probably my least favorite arc of Dragon Ball so while part of me doesn't want that one redone, I must admit it would be cool if they did a twist on it. Have 17 fight an evil Android 17 but instead of the evil 17 absorbing the good one like in GT, have the good one absorb the bad one. Make our 17 the Super 17. Still doesn't strike me like a great idea but it's less bad that way, plus it allows 17 to be part of the main crew for a few more arcs.
Shadow Dragons is one that has actually received a lot of setup in Super with Bulma constantly making wishes on plastic surgery instead of curing world hunger or something. At the same time I like the dynamic Shenron has with them right now, the whole "my friends get extra wishes" thing lmao. Could go either way on that one.
How about this, Dragon Ball Daima Season 2 we have normal final form Cooler be the main villain and SS4 Goku/SS4 Vegeta and eventually SS4 Gogeta fight him.
Then in the next arc of Super you can tie everything from the past 10 years together. Black Freeza decides he's ready to take Broly under his wing, all of a sudden Cooler shows up and turns Golden Cooler. Now those two are fighting, and the Super 17 stuff is happening in the meantime. Then we'd have the most stacked cast since Android arc, even more stacked honestly. You'd have Goku, Vegeta, Broly, Gohan, Piccolo, and 17 all 6 of them at about roughly equal strength. If this arc takes place after EoZ tournament you can throw Uub in there to make a solid 7. A proper adult Gotenks makes 8. We're combining concepts from Super and Daima, so you got Cooler from Daima but with the Golden powerup from Super. And you could have Goku unlock Super Saiyan 5 by combining Super Saiyan 4 from Daima with Ultra Instinct from Super.
