There's two projects. Another DBS movie and an OG DB remake perhaps? I'd rather a Moro adaption than a DB remake personally.

Nagamine directed, Tomioka-written Moro films would be killer as hell. The hype alone from, say, announcing Nagamine directing two Moro films would be huge.

I always thought they were saving the conclusion of the Black Freeza situation, the full scope of UI (and UE) and perhaps the wrap up of DBS, for a movie.

Is this type of event the one that gets to say "the manga is coming back" or is it only about audiovisual productions?

That depends on whether Shueisha is involved lol. I think Capsule Corp. Tokyo is running it, so it would probably only be the things that Iyoku has control over, which is...everything except the manga.

Looking at when the last four movies were released, we're probably getting the next one no later than next year.

2013 : Battle of Gods
2015 : Resurrection F
2018 : Broly
2022 : Super Hero
2026 : New Movie?

I'd be pleasantly surprised if it was a remake of the original anime with Daima level animation though.
They'll probably save a new animated adaption of the original comic for 2029, 2031 or 2034, if I had to guess.
2029 and 2034 I understand because they are the 40th anniversary of Z (although I'd much prefer if a remake started from Pilaf than Raditz) and the 50th anniversary of the franchise respectively, but why 2031?

2031 is the 45th anniversary of the 1986 cartoon series. I was listing off the anniversaries in five year intervals.

Please, be it a new movie!
I don't care about the games much, as I feel oversaturated at the moment and SZ is promising a new add-ons, which I hope will rectify the game's uncompleteness a bit, as otherwise I like the game a lot from the gameplay standpoint.
But can't say that I am not curious on what they wanna do with the franchise next, will it be arena fighter, 2D classic fighter, RPG, cardgame, etc.?

The older I am, the more I incline for getting a full fledged one time movie, than waiting week to week for 20 minutes of series, that is either lackluster or building up expectations for underwhelming climax or leaving unsolved story threads. Movie's writing is more tight in that regard and Battle Of Gods is great example on how to pointlessly ruin well written movie (OMG, the director's cut is pure bliss) in adaptation, that has longer runtime, more plotholes as it somehow cuts the movie explanations and rather strips down the fun things, leaving it with virtually nothing (weird visual dragon manifestations for no reason aside).
I still love to rewatch BOG, Broly and Super Hero, which I really love, while I have rewatched Super once after finishing Z and won't go down that route anytime soon. It's painful to watch until the Tournament Of Power.
FighterZ, Street Fighter 6, Mortal Kombat: Funky_Strudel
PS5: Dynamixx88
Trust me, I'm millenial and a designer.

I have a strong feeling that it will be both a movie and an animated series, since it was announced that the two projects are in works, plus a new game. My best guess is that a movie will be 3D, à la Super Hero and a traditional 2D anime in order to maximize both styles' potential. Seeing how well-recieved Super Hero was in using 3D renders, I have no doubt that they will continue exploring that approach on the next movie. Either way, it should be on a fun ride.

Regarding the rumored series, I have seen many people speculating that it could be Daima Season 2. The problem with the theory is that it was announced as one off series. The title itself is enough to suggest it was meant to be its own thing. However, could the new series continue from where Daima left off in terms of story? Possibly. The fact that the Genkida Matsuri poster includes a new Super Saiyan 4 instead of the classic one implies that it might progress from Daima. This is just a guess, of course. It could also adapt Moro and Granolah arcs as well as a retelling of SuperHero with the epilogue from the manga. Who knows? Maybe the movie will adapt Moro, and the series will continue from where Daima left off for Goku and his friends.

I'm excited to see where the franchise heads next year. Personally, I would love to see the series last for a few years, just so I could look forward to the episode every week. My experience with DB Super was a fun one. Daima was okay, but Super felt a little bit bigger in scale. Whatever they reveal next year, I'm just glad that we will have something exciting to look forward to.

It's very unlikely that they would attempt a film and television series at the same time.

I don't see why they could not do both at the same time. Plenty of the long-running anime series have movies in the middle of their run. A 3D movie would have a totally different production team than the traditional animated series, so it would have no impact on both of the projects.

There aren't enough animators on hand to handle doing that many different action-heavy projects unless a project is in production for years at a time. Series with films are also usually not announced at the same time, nor multiple years in advance.

So, like I said, it's unlikely.

I don't think a live action Dragon Ball series is likely unless it's coming from Netflix (who could do one after the success of the One Piece series). If it's a series I'm hoping the rumours of a seasonal continuation of Super are true. There's fresh content to adapt with Moro and Granolah, and a long running Dragon Ball show that looks as good as Daima would be truly exciting.

I'm not sure Moro and Granolah are all that likely... But it is what I want to happen With or without a Broly adaptation first. I mean if Super were to come back after all this time they would be well within their right to start it with another recap and they could easily just throw a quick mention of "A few months after the tournament, Freeza once again returned to Earth with the Saiyan Broly in tow. Goku and Vegeta were able to defeat and befriend Broly after a long, hard battle."
...Which is ironically also what the manga did, though I feel like the implicit "Go watch the movie!" would be less jarring in a TV show than in the manga because, like... The movie and the show are both animated products made by Toei, that one can typically find in the same places. The movie is basically just an extra long, extra well-animated episode in this case. Meanwhile in the manga it's like "And then this whole other storyline happened, go see it in an entirely different medium that is not entirely consistent with the story we've been telling here in this comic."

...Though I also would not be surprised at all if they resumed the series with a TV version of Broly. I don't particularly want one after how bad the TV versions of Battle of Gods and Resurrection F were as bad as they were, but I could understand them going that route. And the fact that it would presumably also eventually lead to a 2D version of Super Hero would, admittedly, be a nice bonus.

We’re only 70 days away from this. I keep bouncing back and forth between being hopeful and pessimistic about what they’ll announce.

Three projects counting the video game announcement. They can’t miss thrice, right?

Dragon Ball Minus, Movie 15, Dragon Ball Super.

Retelling, retelling, tournament.

Tournament, rehash of an old character, rehash of an old character.

Three is a magic number.

They can absolutely miss three, easily. The video game can be a mobile game, the (supposed) anime project can be a web anime tie-in to Super Divers, and the third project can be another "remastered" home release of Z. DO NOT get your hopes up with the current people in-charge over there. Those officials couldn't get their act together with Toriyama being right there holding their hands; how on earth are they going to manage now without him ? I'm still really looking forward to this event, not because I think we'll get anything worth anticipating, but rather to see just how hard they drop the ball.

If I have learned anything from all of these years of being in fandom: just don't expect anything. These events are not guaranteed to announce That Project You Really Want. I literally keep forgetting about this event even existing and only remember because people bump this thread. Don't think about it so hard, folks!
