Wanna tell FUNi how you feel about the widescreen issue?

Discussion regarding the entirety of the franchise in a general (meta) sense, including such aspects as: production, trends, merchandise, fan culture, and more.

Apparently the dozen or so people that have already responded before you care quite a bit.

I don't understand the purpose of coming into a thread, clearly full of discussion, and saying something like "Who cares?" or "This is lame!". This is the kind of thing you should *expect* on a forum, and you're going to see a lot of it.

That being said, letters are nice.

FUNimation has bigger and better things to do then worry about DBZ. They have so many shows now, DBZ isnt as much of a top priority to them as it once was.

Edit: it's still a money maker for them so who knows what will become of pentions and letter writing. I just don't think they would want to go back to DBZ right now when they have new shows to dub.

I have to disagree. Even now, Dragonball is still one of their biggest cash cows. Even though the show's over, people are still eating up everything new that has to do with Dragonball, whether it be games, clothes, toys or any other things. They would almost definitely lose a decent amount of money if they continue producing these sets in exclusively widescreen.

So, FUNiRepBlue posted on AOD as you may have seen b_boult post. I'm a bit confused by her reply, nevertheless I wanted to share my reply to her here:
MajinVejitaXV (at AnimeonDVD's forum) wrote:With all due respect, assuming you mean me, I did initiate contact by notifying you that I was starting a campaign of sorts. Moreover, I only identified you as a marketing associate to protect your identity as a precaution (which, assuming FUNimation has more than two, wouldn't out you). If that makes me wrong (especially when the information says nothing particularly incriminating), then I apologize. I deal with confidentiality all day, and given the nature in which I contacted you and the information you relayed, I honestly thought it was okay to disseminate.

When someone asks you for information and says "Wanted to ask about what avenue people should pursue if they wish to contact FUNimation about the DBZ discs. A lot of people are angry and want to be heard so they are pouring their efforts into online petitions, which you and I know are practically worthless. I'd like to give them a means to contact FUNimation directly, since I know from both commercial and political efforts that it is the best way to make an impact," it's safe to say they want information for public posting. Still, she appears to have been upset (by what I have no idea, she gave an address and told me it'd take a bunch of letters to change FUNi's mind which is hardly a libelous statement against the company).

Oh well. It's still a good idea (the letters, I mean).

-Corey

I feel that even though the sets aren't what they should be, people will defintly pay 20 - 25$ for like almost 30 episodes. If the price overshadows the flaws then there not gonna loose anything.

That's exactly what FUNimation's banking on. That's why we still need to show them how unhappy we are by sending these letters by the masses, because God knows that they won't be convinced by the sales until probably the 3rd box release.

Perhaps you should consider putting FUNimation's contact address as an update on the main page. If *you* are seen to give some sort of support here, it might incline others to write in and maybe it will get somewhere who knows. :)

We can live in hope~

You know, if you were to write a letter, it might have more of an impact. I'm sure someone at FUNimation knows who "VegettoEX" is.

Look, FUNimation already knows how upset the fans are. There's no reason to send them bags of letters. They have people going on fourms checking how things are doing, looking what fans are saying... they know they effed up. Even before this set came out they knew it was a mistake. If there gonna change anything it'll be because they see more and more fans online being more and more upset with them. I honestly dont think letters will work.

But hey, good luck. :D

Mike should absolutely not write a letter. The very fact FUNimation probably do know who he is will make it appear as if only those associated with him care about this issue, and any letters will lose impact they once had.

You guys give me too much credit. No-one at FUNimation knows me or could give any less of a rat's ass about me, my site, or what I have to say. I'm just some dude with a website :P.

Actually, that Lance guy said he goes on Toonzone's fourm a lot. Your site and this fourm are somtimes mentioned there so Iam sure he a least shook an angry fist at you one time or another in his life... or maybe not, I dont know.

Yeah but people who visit your website do, and if you have a main page update something along the lines of "hey nerds if youre unhappy write a letter here's the address", people may be a little more receptive to the idea. And who knows, it could defy all reason and actually get somewhere.

I agree. Call us nerds on the main site.

No, wait. I prefer "disgruntled geek" more.

Serieously, a main page announcement would be cool. I'm pretty sure we'll do it over at DBAF.

It's you guys that make me prioud to be a Dragonball fan. The fact that we can all work together to try to overcome an obstacle almost brings tears to my eyes.

You guys rock.

Funi kept pretty good tabs on us back in the day. They knew more about us than we could imagine.

Back on my old site, we made an animated gif story of Goku killing Barry Watson that made most of FUNi laugh and Barry called us immature.

Back on topic, I think I'll send in this letter too.

Even though I've been giving heavy consideration to the R2s now, a letter sounds like a good idea to me. I don't think I've had a reason to write a real letter in probably ten years. Damn internet and all its fancy electronic semi-anonymity.

Heh, that's why I think actual letters instead of an e-anything. Anyone with an internet connection knows how to click "I agree" can do anything online. Writing letters will show an actual effort in getting what we want; but I'm sure you guys already knew that.

I disagree. So what if Mike is someone who participates? If 1000 people wrote letters saying they weren't buying the set, that's still 1000 instances of lost revenue. Doesn't matter who they're associated with, in business it comes down to a matter of dollars.
I honestly dont think letters will work.
With all due respect, my experience dictates otherwise. Also, FUNiRepBlue herself said at the AnimeonDVD forums that letters would be the best medium for contacting FUNimation.
It's you guys that make me prioud to be a Dragonball fan. The fact that we can all work together to try to overcome an obstacle almost brings tears to my eyes.
I agree. This community kicks ass, and I'm glad we can all find common ground to work towards a goal of this magnitude. It's an excellent example of how different this forum is from that of your typical website.

Mike, if you post this on the main page to add fuel to the fire, you will rock even moreso ;)

I think writing a letter would be great. The more support the better. It'll be a tad bit slow for me, being up north and all, but I'll write one down, all the same
