Uhh... I doubt it.
I can say for certain that FUNimation knows of the video, considering Chris Sabat directly referenced it at a recent convention (calling 2007 the "Year of the 9000"). I don't think it had an impact on the dub however, since as you pointed out that vocal track was done long before the video.

And don't be too harsh Mike, it's 4chan-esque humor. It's an acquired taste ;p

Exactly. If you go by the "A Hero's Legacy" DVD released in November of 04, over 2 years ago, FUNi had the redub done and finished to the point where Nathan Johnson's music score was already added. Proof of that is in the Tien/Saibamen and Guldo clips in the Extras. Safe to say long before the 9,000 and even Chuck Norris crazes.

This thread makes me want to ask... what power levels were changed in the dub?

Thing is though... the OVER NINE THOUSAND hype began AFTER the redub began. Thus after the redub script was written. So they basically were too lazy to alter it, rather than throwing the geeks a bone.

Not really. EX is probably both too busy to surf the internet looking for joke videos, and would rather do something he enjoys more with his spare time.

But he runs a Dragonball forum. How many times do you think that joke was said?

DOesn't matter. He can still brush it off as an inside joke or just not care.

I never know what the fuck you people are talking about. I think I may have seen it referenced, and just assumed that people were only now just seeing how much better Brian Drummond was than Chris Sabat in terms of voicing Vegeta, since it's just one of those classic deliveries.

People always say Drummond is the better Vegeta, yet he's the one that's gotten 94732834982 youtube videos dedicated to making fun of him.

No, it's just easier to hear Drummond say something over and over again as opposed to Sabat's delivery ;p

I'm wondering if Radditz hit his head sometime or another... considering he still insists that Planet Vegeta was destroyed three years before the star of Z.

Drummond at times is a better Vegeta. If you look at the YOutube videos with "iT'S OVER 9000!", "You Understaaaand?", and "YOU WON'T ESCAPE MY WRAAAAAAAATH!", he gives a more evil approach to Vegeta.

Drummond wins at English Vegeta.

This is sick. I'm laughing out loud just thinking about watching the video for the 20th time. Why is it so fricken funny?!

I screamed the line as I shot down a hill sledding a few weeks ago. Priceless.
