The reason is simple, really: fans will eventually get tired of fandom in slumps like this, as you currently are. However, including a non-DB section in the forums is not only off-topic, but inevitably leads to certain (if not most) people posting exclusively in that section since it's topics will always be current and new. We've already got a bunch of users abusing the introductions forum.

I agree this completely. I've been on video game , comic book , movies and other forms. The second they add an Off-topic the entire site changes. People only post there.

So yes I agree. I maybe a "n00b" here , But even I see that Off-topic can lead to no good.

I don't think any new sections should be added. However, I think that an "Other Anime" sub forum would be cool. The topics would be organised, as in

"Official One Piece Discussion"
"Official Naruto Discussion"

and not

"OMG did u see wut Luffy did last ep!!!"
"lol free naruto manga dls inside!!!1!!"

Sure, it's not gonna happen. However, if there would ever be another subforum, probably an "Other Anime" forum would be the best choice, mostly because I think it would be interesting to see what hardcore DBZ fans think of other popular anime.

But this is a Dragon Ball forum. If you wanna talk about One Piece, head over to Arlong Park. So there shouldn't be whining over wanting to talk about non-DB stuffs.

Well from your wording it comes off as sort of sarcastic. I apologize if you weren't meaning it that way and that I falsely accused you. Just that I've seen you post odd accusations before, such as your earlier comment in this very thread about Mike being on a "banning kick" lately.

I know I can sometimes be a pain. But I really just want to be buddy buddy with people. I don't have anything against anyone on the boards. Except Desire, his timeline made my hair fall out.

For what it's worth, I feel like I've befriended a lot of people from this board through the IRC room, where Mike doesn't really care what we talk about as long as it's not overly obnoxious. But it's pretty quiet nowadays, since most people get impatient and leave if no one says anything within thirty seconds.

And like Xyex said, no one bothers to use the DaizEX Randomness board anymore. (Not that I'm one to talk. )

I was just thinking that maybe not an off-topic board, but an "Other Shonen Jump Anime/Manga" board would do wonders for this site.

I don't know about the rest of you but sometimes I'd like to get the opinions of other DB fans on One Piece/Naruto/Bleach/ etc. Obviously all of those draw a lot of inspiration from Dragonball, so I think there would be a lot of interesting discussions.

Let's face it, Dragonball isn't as cool as it used to be. Milking the franchise that's been over for 10 years can only go so far. As a result, the fanbase across the internet is slowly shrinking. As one of the few remaining "intelligent" Dragonball fansites, I feel like we all have a lot to say about the current state of anime/mangas. Yet even mentioning the word Naruto here seems to be taboo.

Discussions here never seem to go anywhere anymore. There are basically two types of threads nowadays: The ones that bash the dub/boxsets or the 2-or-3 reply threads that always end with a grammar or spelling lesson. And it seems every time I reply to the occasional semi-interesting thread, it immediately dies, and instead the thread that gets bumped continuously is this "Room 29" dub... No offense to anyone taking part, I'm sure you guys are working hard... But I really don't care about fan dubs and it kind of upsets me that that's one of the only threads that gets replies nowadays.

Please don't give me the "Maybe this place isn't for you" because you know as well as I do the Dragonball community is shrinking and the majority of other message boards are filled with 15 year olds arguing about whether Super Buu or Kid Buu is stronger.

I just think it's important to keep things fresh, and to not limit us so rigidly when it's painfully obvious that doing so will only make this community shrink even further. That's not to say it should be an anything goes board either.

What do you fellow Dragonball fans think of the current state of Naruto or One Piece? These are things that I'd really like to talk about with fellow long-time Dragonball fans...

Just an opinion. I'm sure I'll either get bashed for this or the thread will immediately die.

This is nothing. I actually prefer having it be about this level of activity because I can keep up on everything. Just go start an argument over something that hasn't been done in awhile, like which Boo is the strongest.

I will personally patrol those boards at least once a day and make an effort to reply to newcomers and those that return. It really can be a fun forum and we have a ton of subforums. Basically everything that people here are suggesting they'd like to have, including RPG ones. Mike even has posted over there occasionally and we've always had his full encouragement on the place. Expanding on what Rachel said, people have to actually stick around and make the effort. I mean not just one or two people, but lots. The more discussion and participation that's going on, the more interesting and lively the boards will be right? I remember being on the Randomness boards as much as I came here at one point, sometimes more. I believe it *can* be like that again. As I said, I promise to do my part at any rate.

Believe it or not, I had a well written response to all of this but my computer froze.. Anyway, thanks for the input guys. Even though an off-topic section would have problems (General Lounge is a better way to put it), I'm sure enforcing rules would help keep new sections in order. Reviving the random board is a great idea IMO, I'm sure C_Goten was trying to do something like that as well here. By the way, I registered for the Random board today and I didn't get my activation email. I checked the junk section and everything... Either way, thanks for giving your honest answers guys.

I'm assuming that there hasn't been any posting in there for a while? I just joined since I recognized some of the forum names there. Also, talking about random crap isn't completely bad all the time, especially since I'm somewhat familiar with the audience, since a good number of them stem from here.

Also, Xyex, I'm guessing that we've got to PM you the banners for the contest? The announcement wasn't really clear on how you wanted them sent.
