Daizenshuu translations online?

I like the idea of an online petition. I found a few sites that do it for free and I'm willing to set one up. I would, however, like a little help with the petition statement. I want to make sure that everything that needs to be included gets included, so I would appreciate it if anyone with ideas voiced them. Thanks!

You know what? We should do that. Like during the summer or something, translate all the daizenshuus (Or maybe 1 or 2).

Seriously, though, in case nobody got the joke earlier in the thread, I'm already translating (not scanslating) the 7th daizenshuu bit by bit over the summer.

First of all, Dayspring, you are definitely my hero right now because I just bought the 7th daizenshuu and realized I couldn't read any of it.

Maybe you should be more specific and explain what the Daizenshuu are in case they try weaseling out of the petition by saying they don't know what one is or by just releasing the first Daizenshuu, which is technically the only one that's an art book.

Regarding the petition suggestion, it shouldn't mention which country you want it released in. That way people like me don't get it if they do a US-exclusive release (which is possible if they interpret the petition as a possible niche market instead of an international market). Rather, just ask for a translation and distribution in all the countries they operate in. Note: literally use the words "all the countries." You don't need to list them all individually.

I would, however, list each individual daizenshuu's purpose (ie: book one is an artbook). A general idea can come from the related section on this very site. The purpose for this is to increase the chance of some of them being released, as Viz may not want to publish all of them as some don't deal with the manga, which is their only bond to DB. In other words, the purpose of this part is to point out that some like 1, 2, 4, and 7 have a
*lot* to do with their product.

Also, give a brief overview of what the daizenshuu are, as DaemonCorps suggested.

We the undersigned would like to see the Dragonball Daizenshuu translated into English and distributed in all the countries you operate in. The Daizenshuu are guides to the Dragonball universe. There are seven books in all, and each deals with a different aspect of the series. Below is a short description of the books.

Book one: Complete Illustrations- An art book featuring many of the pictures drawn by Akira Toriyama for the Dragonball and Dragonball Z series.

Book two: Story Guide- This guide deals with many aspects of the story and characters, and includes things like a table of all the battles in the manga. It also re-prints many color pages from the manga.

Book three: TV Animation Part 1- This book covers the anime from the beginning through the Captain Ginyu arc. Included is information about the show and characters, as well as an episode guide and information about all of the episodes in the guide.

Book four: World Guide- The guide features information about all the places events take place in Dragonball and Dragonball Z. It also includes information and characteristics of different groups such as Sayians and Namekians. The book also has sections dealing with the technology and machines in the manga.

Book five: TV Animation Part 2- Covering the anime from the Captain Ginyu saga to the Fusion saga, this guide has information about the characters and how they progress over time. It also features an episode guide with information about all of the episodes from arcs discussed in the book.

Book six: Movies and TV Specials- Information about all of the movies and TV specials. Also has sections comparing the characters in the anime and manga to their appearances in the movies and TV specials.

Book seven: Encyclopedia- Contains a chronological table of events in Dragonball and Dragonball Z, information about the Dragon World, a character dictionary, information about special attacks, a section of rare illustrations, an item guide, and an item dictionary.

Books 1, 2, 4, and 7 deal directly with the manga, and would be useful companion guides to your product if they were translated and released.

Nice revision of the petition. But since the 7 Daizenshuu stop the anime guide at the Fusion Saga, don't you think we should also ask for the release of the final anime guide (that soft covered one)? Also, do you think the petition should also include the fact that these books would be out of print otherwise? The only problem I would think of if this were included would be that Viz could see it as an excuse to continue not releasing the books.

The only other thing I would improve would be the last sentence, since it seems like the point being made (that those certain books deal directly with the manga) doesn't seem that well pointed out, what with it being one sentence and all. It's fine the way it is, though.

You might also want to say that we want the volumes to be released in that order, unless we want Viz to do something like combining some of the volumes together as one (which I guess wouldn't be the worst thing to happen). Also, maybe say that we want Mr. Satan's name to stay that way (among keeping other things the same, like Popo's lips and the cases of nudity). Though I'm sure the edits will be pretty hard for them to not do "?...
