I think you want asexual, my friend. Writing it out like that is just begging for Liam to criticize...

Sorry, but there's been a bit of a flood of grammatically bad posts recently. Yours was just the easiest to get a sarcastic comment out of.

In any case, do we know he's asexual? He could be a haemaphrodite.

Piccolo, hermaphrodite or asexual? Does anybody care? Not Toriyama.

It's kinda funny how a conversation about Krillans marriage goes into Piccolos gender debate.

Asexuals can produce eggs not Hermaphrodites.

Nope. Asexuals reproduce by mitosis: splitting in two. Haemaphrodites reproduce by both creating the embryo and fertalising it themselves. It's still...word that escaped me (y'know, where a cell gets split in two rather than duplicating itself)...reproduction, but one person does it all. Or two people do it, but either of them can be the egg-creator or the inseminator.

Are you sure about asexuals, PsyLiam? That might be a type of asexual reproduction, but I doubt it's limited to that. Hermaphrodites have both male and female reproductive organs. I know that.

I guess my point about not caring about Piccolo was ignored. Oh, well.

The Type of eggs I am talking about are the ones like Piccolo Daimao created. The actual egg you lay. Hermaphodites give birth.

There's a rare trait found in certain snakes (Rare to the point that it's hard to find in a species, like a birth defect, or something) where the snake can create exact clones of herself by fertilizing her own eggs, I think. Parthenogenesis. Yeah, that's it. Anyway, I remember thinking that it was a lot like Piccolo.

To be honest Zacko, I'm trying to remember Biology lessons from about 7 years ago, so I could be wrong.

That would be true of mammalian hermaphodites, certainly, but what about reptilian ones? Those species lay eggs, so wouldn't a hermaphodite version also lay eggs?

Yes. :P

Asexual just means only 1 "sex" is needed to reproduce (be it by cloning itself, fertilizing itself or whatever). That's why you guys are confused about hermaphrodites. Herms are an example of something asexual.

"Asexual" does not mean only one type of sex. It means someone who has no sexual feelings. Look it up here for goodness sakes guys:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asexual

Just using the term "asexual" doesn't accurately describe Namekians. At least not the part about being able to produce eggs. I agree with using Zacko's term, "parthenogenesis". Exact definition here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parthenogenesis

It's the most accurate term given the small amount of information we know. Remember when Dende told Buruma that they only had "one type" when she assumed that Saichoro was female since he was the one that re-populated the planet. Also some invertebrates use "parthenogenesis" and as we all know, Namekians are most closely related to mollusks.

That's one of it's meanings. It's not the only one.
Main Entry: asex·u·al
Pronunciation: (")A-'sek-sh(&-)w&l, -'sek-sh&l
Function: adjective
1 : lacking sex or functional sex organs <asexual plants>
2 a : involving or reproducing by reproductive processes (as cell division, spore formation, fission, or budding) that do not involve the union of individuals or germ cells <asexual reproduction> <an asexual generation> b : produced by asexual reproduction <asexual spores>
3 : devoid of sexuality <an asexual relationship>
It's not so much having "one" sex, as having no sex at all. Nameks should probably be more correctly referred to as "it"s, rather than "he"s.

(That's from the Merriam-Webster online dictionary, BTW.)

Yeah, he could be called an it, but he'd been called a he for so long that no one really wanted to try and switch over. Besides, Piccolo seems more guy than anything.

Oh, and I remember reading somewhere about an interview with Toryiama-sama (even linked to it, but only skimed it and don't know if it's real) where AT said something along the lines of Piccolo being 'fully-equiped'. Yeah...

Oh, I'm not saying we should call him an "it". And I'd put anyone who does in the same catagory as those who say "Bejita".

again, a bit out of topic, but this is all reminding me of Godzilla. But only cos that's asexual and can reproduce on it's own...now i have an urge to go watch Godzilla...and hope to god it eats that annoying woman (Lesley) who loves the main guy (Nick Totopolus~ Played by Mathew Broderick)...but i've seen it enough times to know that she doesn't get eaten...DAMN! You'd think they'd change the ending.
Anyway, back on...whatever topic!
