Rumors! (Answers + questions of my own)

1) Everybody knows Pan never goes Super Saiyan. But because of the fact that she IS part saiyan, there are rumors that she CAN go super saiyan and just never does. If you read her bio in daizenshuu 7, it says she can't because the saiyan part of her is too diluted. She also CAN'T go Oozaru because she was never born with a tail, unlike Goten and Trunks who had theirs cut off.

2) Trunks turning SSJ2 came from the fact that he can reach Super Saiyan Dai 2 Dankai. The rumor involving chibi trunks going SSJ2 might be from the fact that Gotenks can go SSJ2 (source = daizenshuu 7).

3) There are at least 2 easter eggs per DBZ movie/tv special on DVD. Is this true, and if so, what are they?

4) Goku's age = 48 at end of DB manga if you include time spent in heaven and room of spirit and time. (End of DB = year 784. Birth = 737. 784-737 = 47. +1 for room = 48)
= 40 if you exlude time in heaven (7 years between cell+Boo, 1 year waiting for Saiyans).
= 39 if you exclude time in heaven and room of spirit and time.
For fun: Vegeta = 52

Sounds pretty cool, but I would assume that your reliable source has this mixed up with a really good looking doujinshi. Toriyama has already said on numerous occasions he has no interest in continueing DB, and aside from that the Bardock feature was his least favourite. He didn't even want to release it

That's bull. in the GT special, her grandson Goku can transform into a Super Saiyan, and he's only 1/16 saiyan, while pan is 1/4. I think the REAL reason Pan never went Super Saiyan...well, their was no point. She was only a supporting character, mostly for comic relief. Besides, it's usually her weakness that drives the plot. I.E. Goku having to save her all the time.

Regarding point 1:

I can understand the "diluted" thing. After all, she's only 1/4 Saiyan. Of course, the series states several times that a half human/half Saiyan is actually stronger than a full Saiyan, so you'd expect a 1/4 Saiyan 3/4 human to be at least as strong as a full blooded Saiyan.

And the final episode of GT urinates all over that theory anyway, where we see characters who are (I think) 1/16th Saiyan manage to go Super Saiyan. Tsk, eh?

Does it actually say in the daizenshuu than Goten and Trunks actually had them removed at birth? Or is this just fan speculation? I know it's the most obvious answer, but I just wondered if it is "official".

Regarding point 2:

"Super Saiyan Dai 2 Dankai" Is that "Ultimate/Ascended/Level Beyond Super Saiyan Stage 2" that Trunks turns while fighting Cell?

And do we ever see Gotenks turn SSJ2, or is it just implied from the fact that he can turn SSJ3?

Totally incorrect I'm afraid. In the recent interview of Toriyama published last year in the American Shonen Jump, when asked what his favourite anime-only feature was, Toriyama said the it was the "Bardock Special". He liked the story and thought that Toei did a really good job creating the whole background story about the Saiyajin people.

Concerning the diluted blood: I was just quoting her bio. Also in my defense, the only thing daizenshuu 7 covers concerning GT is a bit of conceptual art, not anywhere near what happened in the final ep.

Concerning the Dai 2 Dankai: Sorry, I keep reffering to the japanese name. I have the french version of the manga+daizenshuu. In the daizenshuu instead of having japanese titles it has how it would be pronounced in japanese, than the french translation in brackets.
"Supa Saiyajin Dai 2 Dankai" is The Level Beyond Super Saiyan (the one Vegeta could go). Dai 3 Dankai is the one Trunks fought against Cell in ("The Second Level" Beyond Super Saiyan).

Concerning Gotenks SSJ2: I think that was a mistake the daizenshuu ppl made based on how Gotenks could go SSJ3. I myself was surprised to see his name among the list off ppl the SSJ2 definition that could go SSJ2.

Concerning Goten and Trunks' tails: After the hype died down when everybody found out that baby Trunks was Vegeta's son (at end of manga volume 28 ), and while Gohan is playing peeakboo with him, Krillin asks/remarks to Bulma how she cut his tail off. As for Goten, I just assumed the same was done since Gohan and Trunks were born with tails.

"Dankai"... that's that stupid word I've been trying to remember... *makes mental note*

Christ, the writing never ends! The SSJ page, at least, may need to be split up into individual pages per form x_X;;

I would like to see a scanned copy of this interview. For years I've been hearing the complete opposite.

In JPG format if possible, close enough that I can actually read the words. You may be right, but in that case it means I've been fed BS rumors for years... :x

I've just sent the scan to you. Just to correct myself again in front of everyone, I mistakenly said the interview with Toriyama's statement was in the American Shonen Jump, it is actually in a 1998 issue of Animerica magazine that I own that did a profile of DB. That's probably why not a lot of people have read about it. Sorry about the mistake guys. After a while, you collect so much reference material that you can't remember where you read what!

To Dues: I tried sending the scan to you twice, but each time, I got a reply back from postmaster saying that my e-mail failed to be delivered. :(

That's odd, I can't imagine why they wouldn't work. Can't you post them in a message on the board maybe?

I can try copying and pasting it to the body of the e-mail itself. Mybe then it will go through. Otherwise, maybe VegettoEX could help post it, since I'm not that good at posting images I'm afraid.

VegettoEX wrote: Yeah, I'd like to include all the fucked up Budokai / Budokai 2 fusions ^^;;... Problem is, I have to work my ass off and beat "Dragon World" mode, like, 80 times to get the Breakthrough capsules to get "Tiencha" and such... *sighs*
There's actually a cheat in Budoukai 2 that allows you to get free capsules without having to go through Dragon World a billion times. I remember my fiance (who always checks for cheats first whenever he gets a game :P) told me about it the week he rented Budoukai 2, and he said he got about 97% of the capsules with the cheat (it gives you a random capsule, so there's no guarantee you'll get every single one). I didn't remember how to do it, but I found it mentioned in one of the FAQs on GameFAQs:

"Go to Bulma's shop. Click Triangle to exit. Before you actually exit (When she's saying 'Come again') press and hold R1, L1, R2, and L2, then press X to leave. You'll get a free capsule! It might save when leaving the edit capsule area, it might not."

So, maybe using that cheat, you can get to work finding out about all of those crazy fusions ^_^

Ooooooh yeah! Now that I've beaten the game several times, I won't feel bad about cheating to get some extra stuff, especially if it's for the site! :P
