Who could barely hold his own against *one* enemy. Ya....that's Gohan alright.TheGreatness25 wrote: I mean in the very last 2 episodes of DBZ, Gohan is the nerdy scholar (exactly the way he was in GT),
Did Toriyama originally...

Actually, Super Saiya-jin 4 was kind of ugly. Hell, Vegeta was ugly with that boxed haircut and the action wasn't fluid or fun like it was in Dragonball. Well, different strokes for different folks, I guess.TheGreatness25 wrote:Yeah but everyone expected a continuation in the series, which is why GT came to be...I personally liked GT for only one reason, it was the continuation of my favorite show of all time lol. I didn't even pay attention to how lousy the story was, and I liked Vegeta with short hair. On top of that, it didn't really go against anyone's character, I mean in the very last 2 episodes of DBZ, Gohan is the nerdy scholar (exactly the way he was in GT), Videl settled down and wasn't rowdy anymore (like in GT), Trunks and Goten were obsessed with girls (like in GT...except Trunks was Bulma's successor), and Vegeta was the leather jacket-wearing city slicker...which was continued in GT. I didn't care about the story, I just wanted to see the next chapter. Plus, Super Saiyan 4 was awesome.

Well obviously I wasn't talking about Vegeta's weird hair that looked like someone sliced the top off and that was it...and certainly the mustache wasn't one of the highlights. I meant I like Vegeta with the adult Gohan type hair. And I liked Super Saiyan 4, it was just different. And I didn't say GT was good, I said that I didn't discriminate against it simply because it continued the story.

Vegeta should've been the hero of GT. Goku's being turning into a kid cuts his power down to Pan-level, so Vegeta has to take over being Earth's protector, just as new waves of EEEEEVIIILL begin.
Since Baby-Gohan would be the big enemy then, the absolute greatest exchange in GT must be kept:
B-Gohan:
...to kill me, you'd have to kill your Saiyan friend's son!
Vegeta: And what makes you think I have a problem with that?

But I can't, that's how life is. Time is a bitch. The party is over. Kageyama, Kikuchi, and Maeda are off the sauce now; Yanami almost OD'd; Yamamoto got arrested; Toriyama's not going to light trash cans on fire and hang from the chandelier anymore. We can't get the band back together, and even if we could, everyone's either old, in poor health, or calmed way the fuck down. Best we're going to get, and are getting, is a party that's almost entirely devoid of the magic that made the original one so awesome that we even want more.

I agree with Kunzait completely. You can almost tell by simply watching the Freeza saga that it is the final battle. There's another reason I think this that is not listed above. You may think it's silly: Environmental destruction. Just the way the mountains are all shaking, and the ocean comes up and stuff, and the sky turns red. It just shows how uber powerful these bastards really are.

I think the problem is that most people were introduced to DBZ before Z, so they really don't get to feel certain things that you were supposed to feel in the context of the manga.
Such as Piccolo training Gohan and his appearance in DBZ in general. If you just see DBZ at first, you really don't " get " how that's a big thing. Piccolo is the son of, well, Piccolo ( Daimao), who is the most evil guy in DB. . At this point he really didn't care much about anyone, and he only took Gohan because he had to . Then, BAM!, he dies for the kid. Watching this at first wouldn't make you very surprised at that if you hadn't seen DB.
Same thing as when Goku dies for the first time. Again, if you haven't seen DB, you really didn't give a damn about Goku dying, because at that point you don't really know who he is. All you know is that he's the main character and that he's dead. This is the same with everyone else dying (at first ).
Nothing about Goku being a Saiyan and having a brother ( and a kid ) surprises you. Etc, etc.
Basically, if you don't see DB before Z then it's hard for you to appreciate the writing, IMO. Note: I didn't, but I probably still can't appreciate the manga/ anime as much as a person who grew up with it, or simply someone who has a clean slate and is reading it without knowledge of everything that's going to happen. This is why the Manga Chapter segments are so interesting in the Daizex podcast.
Oh, and it's also hard to appreciate what lil' Goku does if you know that later on he can basically blow up entire planets with ki blasts and shit
