Definitely. I'll probably use my PS3 for the Blu-ray, the only question is what to use for the DragonBox. On my setup right now, I have my Oppo region free player feed a 480i signal to my Denon receiver that has a Faroudja DCDi chipset set to upscale/deinterlace to 720p. The PS3's signal is unadulterated and simply goes 720p to my receiver, which goes out to the TV.

I guess the best way would be to run a line from my receiver to my video card. Probably use an HDMI-DVI cord, and get a video card with capture abilities with DVI in? I'll play with it tomorrow.

I forgot that it was Blue-Ray and for a second there thought it was just another "HD Remastered" DVD. Um I would just like to ask FUNimation what the difference is lol It's not like it's a movie, you can't notice background imaging and have a more realistic effect...why not just release it on regular DVD? This is just beyond me lol

Well, a DVD has 480 lines of vertical resolution, whereas a Blu-ray disc has 1080. Also, Blu-ray (and HD-DVD) give producers much more room to implement creative menus, extras and so on. They're really quite nice.

Because they already did? The movie's been out for ages on DVD. By doing the telecine at 1080p (ideally) it means you get sharper detail when played on any television (especially an HD display, whereas if it were 480i/p like a DVD then your display would have to upscale the image). Plus, Blu-ray uses different codecs (DVD used MPEG-2 exclusively), which can work more efficiently and result in less macroblocking and so forth. Keep in mind this all is fully dependent on whether the discs and streams are authored competently.

However, you are right. If FUNimation is applying more DVNR to these films, it makes an HD release almost irrelevant. It would destroy any detail that could be gained from an HD release.
This is just beyond me lol
That's fine. For me, since seeing many of my favorite movies in HD, it's hard to go back. I'd suggest reading about the HD formats and sampling them in comparison to SD releases if possible. My first big test was watching Casino Royale on DVD, then flipping to it on Blu-ray. Both were well done discs, but the limitations of DVD even at peak made it a case of night and day. It also makes discs that aren't well made on DVD even more apparent (yes, I mean FUNi's DragonBall Z discs).

No what I mean is the picture can't look all too much different than the Season sets. It went through the same process. On a live action movie, you can notice a big difference, but when it is animated, as you said, all you can really do is buff up the menus...which...they didn't lol Those would have to be some pretty damn sick menus for them to have to resort to Blu-Ray (or however the hell you spell it). And with all that space to have 2 Extra options, ones that already came with the DBZ Season sets? Naughty naughty, just a way for them to get more money on movies they already released...and there is a box-set for the Broly movies already. I don't know...anyway, it's good that they're trying something and venturing out. I can understand the series being "redone" because in 5 years with HDTV taking over the world, on Cartoon Network HD or whatever, that's the one they'd be showing...and I can understand them doing the same thing for movies because fans who collect the series in the "Remastered" format would want this too. But...it's the same thing, except Broly is on Blu-Ray. So that's why I'll just keep the original one movies that I have because I don't want something that's Playstation 3 exclusive (I'm not getting no Blu-Ray player) for now.

It's still a toss up between Blu-Ray and HDDVD. Once that whole thing is settled, then I'll buy which ever is still around. I don't want to risk it yet.
