Umm, the black line thing was a joke? At least that's what it sounds like. :?
Meh, I'm in a tired and confused mood, so I'll just point out that physics of a canon planet Vs physics of a manga/anime artstyle are two very different things. :P

Gravity also effects the atmospheric pressure on a planet (unless no atmosphere is present). Think of a deep water fish that's brought up to the surface. The intense pressure inside the fish vs the inadequate pressure on the outside causes them to literally......explode. Our bodies are pressurized on the inside to compensate the atmospheric pressure pushing upon us, that's why our bones don't snap under gravity or our bodies inflate like balloons when we're walking around in the street.
I haven't thought of that.. but how come then astronauts don't explode inside the ships once they reach the weightless environment of space?

In my project - i want things to be realistic, but i guess since it's Dragonball - not everything about real life would have to apply..
Agree with your last statement, but to answer your question, space pods and shuttles are pressurized by air pressure itself. If you cut a small hole in an astronaut's suit, he (or she) would get sucked out through the hole into space....where they'd then actually rip apart outward from the lack of atmospheric pressure around their bodies. Not a pleasant way to go if you ask me...

And the vermin of the world inhabit it."
