I remember Planet Namek had a TON of pictures. I particular picture was of Dr.Evil and Mini-me with Trunks and Chibi Trunks heads photoshoped on them, that made me laugh being ony about 10 when it was online... I wish it was still around.

God, those pictures were bizzare, Who would possible imagine that crap? I remember a Vegeta as James Bond one which creeped me out. Now that I think about it, what the hell was so funny about them?

I remember reading in one of Mike's old interviews that Planet Namek was buy out other DBZ sites. Did anybody else notice this, was it like something major?

And also, based solely on graphic design and the overall visual layout (not judging by content) did Planet Namek look more like Daienshuu EX or like Kanzentai? Sadly I never got to visit the site since I was not really introduced to Dragonball until about a year ago, when exactly did Planet Namek go down?

I'm pretty sure Planet Namek (at least from when I remember it) was red and black with its links on the left hand side of the page. (Though there was something on the right, images or links to other dbz-related websites?) And the main page had its news in the middle.

I guess it looked more like Daizenshuu EX than Kanzentai if you want to go by the bare bones of it.

Yeah, Planet Namek was red and black, I always remember because I use the same colors for my AIM font/background.

Was that the website you could send Dragonball Z E-cards?

I just hate the fact that I was too young and missed the site because of that.

Well, now that we have the current version of DaizEX and now that we have Kanzentai, there's really no reason to miss Planet Namek that much if you didn't see it when it still existed. These two sites really do the Dragonball community a lot of justice on their own.

I fondly recall PN, but I guess I don't miss it too much. At this point, I don't need to search for much info beyond news (which I have here for). I come here for the community. I also go to the arena for multimedia stuff sometimes.

I really miss 3G though. Especially Kakarott Stole My Hamburger.
To show my appreciation, I'll only beat them half to death.

Wow, I was gonna go to planetnamek via web.archive.org, but apparently the site owner blocked it... :(
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
Hmm.. I remember visiting that a couple times. It had a black background if I remember right. I think the only reason I used that website was for power level info, haha!

I'm in the generation of fans that started with Toonami, so I totally empathize with the feeling of having "missed the party", experiencing disappointment, and wanting to experience it myself. But I can't, that's how life is. Time is a bitch. The party is over. Kageyama, Kikuchi, and Maeda are off the sauce now; Yanami almost OD'd; Yamamoto got arrested; Toriyama's not going to light trash cans on fire and hang from the chandelier anymore. We can't get the band back together, and even if we could, everyone's either old, in poor health, or calmed way the fuck down. Best we're going to get, and are getting, is a party that's almost entirely devoid of the magic that made the original one so awesome that we even want more.

That site's what educated me on why everyone was up-in-arms about Dragonball Z's treatment in America. I'm pretty sure that its still archived somewhere for people to see it. The rollover images were pretty cool, too, since you could see the difference in exact frames.

False! All 96 kbps! I dare you to replace your CDs with those! (Then again, look at what YouTube's done with its quality...)

In all honesty, I probably put up more than I would now-a-days in one single go, but I at least tried to rotate things around, never put up an entire CD at once, etc.

I remember everything you mentioned and much, much more :P.

I seem to remember another site that I had frequented back in the DBZ hay-days was, I believe, Son Gohan's Page. I used to google that name every day just to see what new info I could dig up on the series, looking far passed what I had watched on Toonami.

Speaking of nostalgia, I finally played Dragonball Z Legends (Idainaru Densetsu) again recently. I remember when I first got my copy (burned copy from some douche on e-bay >.<) and played passed the parts I had seen in the Ginyu arc, and wondering who all these blonde people were with Piccolo. I wanted my Goku, Vegeta, and Gohan back. But then I got really excited in the final fight when base Goku and Vegeta fused. I thought it was their heroic comeback!

I learned Trunks was Vegeta's son through Final Bout. Pitted them against each other and got their intro speeches "I'm gonna surpass my father." "You're going to surpass me?! Ha ha ha."

But then, Final Bout confused me more with their wording of characters. Super Little Goku? I was like "WHOA! He was blonde when he was REALLY young? But then dyed it black when he was a little bit older, but just a kid?

Man, I was quite the dummy.

Anyways, back to PN and such. Do all of you remember all those DBZ multiple choice quizzes you could take on those site? I can't remember if it was on PN or Son Gohan's Page, but I remember taking those and giving them to my friends which would make me feel superior because I was the one that read up on the Androids and what not. Heh, such a stupid, little kid I was.

God, I still miss PN so much. It was my first real source of information- my introduction to the concept of 'fandom', and my portal to a forum where I lived for the next... two years? I never really went on the actual DB forums on PN, because the first time I showed up on them was in the middle of a killer flamewar. I ran off instead to a new little side-forum, four pages long at the time, dedicated to the new show on Toonami- Gundam Wing. Wonderful, wonderful place...

I loved that place and it's never really been replaced in my heart. Yeah, there's stuff that's just as good now, but I still get really nostalgic for my roots.

I was Velasa on there, like I am everywhere. If anybody else here was on those forums (the main PN ones or off on the Gundam Lounge), I'd love to know. Especially if Ozi, Fishydish or SSJBlondidude are here.
