Well Gotenks was pummeled badly by Buu in their first confrontation. That Gotenks was definately nowhere near Goku's league. I think that after the training Gotenks was equal (or near)to Goku but never surpassed him.

Well Gotenks was stupid and tried to fight Buu in his base form. We never saw SSj Gotenks vs Fat Buu, but since SSj Gotenks easily tangoed with the much stronger Super Buu, and then equaled or topped him with SSj3... yeah, Gotenks is stronger.

Also, remember that Fusion, whether dance or Potara, doesn't just equal "Fusee 1's power + Fusee 2's power." It not only combines their strength but adds a huge amount on top of that. Otherwise, base Gotenks would've likely died against Buu, and Vegetto likely wouldn't have been stronger than Buu at only SSj1.

Gotenks as SSJ was struggling greatly against Super Buu. He was holding his own and managing to get a hit in every now and again. Nothing in that fight that suggest Goku as SSJ could not of done the same.

Remember what happened with Ssj Gohan took on Fat Boo?

Super Boo is much stronger than Fat Boo.

Ssj Goku is -not- much stronger than Ssj Gohan.

Ssj Gotenks was supposed to be capable of bringing down Fat Boo.

His little "base form" escapade certainly does not count towards Goku's intention, especially given the scene where he makes them match their Ki as Super Saiya'jins".

I'm tired.

So yeah, I don't understand why "Mystic" is still in circulation, because the Daizenshuu lays out an official term and these things are not hard to spread throughout the fan base.

I've seen "Ultimate" pick up quite a few followers, though, in all honesty. I just wish it wasn't because of a poorly made Video Game.
