Battle Power Infinity is different. It's not a vocal song. Almost all of the vocal songs are taken out of non-Japanese language DB dubs. I'd expect Tenkaichi Gohan and Piccolo-san Daisuki to still be in the dub w/original BGM audio since they were in the Pioneer dub. Now what I don't expect is for "Spirit Vs. Spirit" to be in when Gohan goes SSJ2. It gets taken out of every international version like "Mezase Tenkaichi" in the Budokai's. So it's gonna be awkward hearing Gohan's stupid Monologue without music.Sn4tcH wrote:Well they kept the song that played while Trunks went SSJ in Season Four (the name escapes my mind). But that didn't have vocals either... so...
Be grateful the filler in Dragon Ball doesn't suck like the 3rd arc of Rurouni Kenshin.

Heck, if someone posted a clip of the old dub with the music removed, we'd know what we're in for.Vekurotto wrote:Battle Power Infinity is different. It's not a vocal song. It's like they just -want- to give me more reasons not to watch the dub.

Right, I was just curious as to whether there was a legal way to obtain it or if it was pretty much as hard to come by as the High Spirited Saga songs.

After looking at that image of Cell for a while, anybody else think he looks kinda off-model, especially the face?
The voice direction is improved as well. There's not a single word of random added dialogue, which is very unusual for FUNimation. Nobody speaks unless somebody's mouth is moving. There's long moments of silence, with nobody talking, especially in The World's Strongest. It was quite refreshing. Had the original musical scores been kept, I would've gone so far as to say they were perfect, which is why I'm so excited to get the original music in this upcoming set.
Movies 3 onward, that's another story, but FUNimation's dubs of movies 1 & 2 were a pleasure to watch.
The Dead Zone & World's Strongest redubs? I think they're amazing, script-wise. On the rare occasions that I watch the dub, I put on the Japanese version's subtitles when I listen to it so I can compare scripts. I noticed many lines in both movies that were identical to the old Pioneer scripts, and the ones that were different were still in the spirit of the original dialogue. There are even lines here and there that are almost word-for-word translations of the original script, and the ones that aren't verbatim are still incredibly accurate. There's one little slip-up in one of Goku's lines in movie 1, bit other than that, the dialogue was very nicely done.SSj Kaboom wrote:I didn't know that about the dub scripts for those two. Are they really good? I just usually watch the Japanese track nowadays, so I hadn't noticed.MagicBox wrote:Since FUNimation's redubs of movies 1 & 2 used scripts that were almost exact copies of the old FUNi/Pioneer dub script, these films are two of the most accurate DBZ dubs in FUNi's arsenal.

Wow. I really had no idea. I already have all but a few of the movies, but I may sell them pick these up again if FUNi continues to re-release them in this format. You're already sealed the deal with 1 & 2 for me.MagicBox wrote:<stuff> ...but FUNimation's dubs of movies 1 & 2 were a pleasure to watch.

EDIT: I especially hope they remaster Movie 13... something about the visuals in that one made my eyes hurt.
Based on the spine image, I think the estimate was nine, and it's looking like it will be that way by episode count, too.Kirbopher wrote:Question, how many boxsets did you guys think we'd end up going through before we reach the end of the series?

Y'know between the time it takes for these things to come out the movie packages the season packages the special packages all for such a low price it's actually fairly tempting to totally disregard my morals on this crap and buy it. I mean I would end up owning everything before the year is up. It even seems like their whole "remastering" process has gotten better on all fronts.

Yeah, I think they did some extra edge enhancing on that one, which lead to some nasty aliasing, mostly in the backgrounds.SSj Kaboom wrote: EDIT: I especially hope they remaster Movie 13... something about the visuals in that one made my eyes hurt.
It really annoyed me because movie 13 has fantastic animation.
I completely agree. The FUNi DVD releases of Movies 12 and 13 just need that remastering to do it justice.SSj Kaboom wrote: EDIT: I especially hope they remaster Movie 13... something about the visuals in that one made my eyes hurt.
Also, releases yesterday include-
Bardock/Trunks Double Pack
DBZ Season 4
Death Note Vol.3 DVD
Death Note Vol. 13 How to Read
Death Note: Another Note
One Piece: Episode of Alabasta DVD
Apollo Justice (DS)
And with Brawl coming out on March 9, I think I'm going to be freaking broke by the time these two DVDs are released

No definitely not.Raki wrote:I though the First Strike set had the original music in them?
I only switched over to he dub to see what they did with Gohan's two songs.
Menza's version of Gohan's song about Piccolo, was a fucking joke, it wasn't even music, it was just weird random noises, he fools you into thinking it would be an instrumental tune of some sort, then shits all over your face with what he ended up producing.

The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.
So my assumption is 6 will have either Mr. Satan or Gohan, 7 will have Videl or Gohan, 8 will have either Gotenks or Buu, and 9 will have Vegetto or Buu.SSj Kaboom wrote:Based on the spine image, I think the estimate was nine, and it's looking like it will be that way by episode count, too.Kirbopher wrote:Question, how many boxsets did you guys think we'd end up going through before we reach the end of the series?
