Live Action Movie causing new DB series
Even though there's a big chance it won't happen, lets imagine what could be done if someone like Bruce Timm got his hands on the series. Wonder what directions a quality Western animation team could take the series.
You know, a Bruce Timm collaboration with top Japanese Animators (much like the new Gotham Knight dvd) would be a pretty interesting thing to see for Dragonball. And I want it. Now.

I agree. The Sparking Openings weren't very good to me. The animation was much too choppy and slow to be the fast-paced DBZ I love.veshira wrote: I hope that they don't make a DB series out of that sort of computer animation. Something about that sort of animation just bothers me. ><;

Nothing beats traditional hand drawn animation, I'm one of those guys that hates the soul-less crap Pixar and Dreamworks churn out every year.Big Momma wrote: I agree. The Sparking Openings weren't very good to me. The animation was much too choppy and slow to be the fast-paced DBZ I love.
Traditional hand drawn 2d animation is where it's at.
Fuck 3d.
I just don't agree that Toei would allow another animation company to re-animate Dragonball,or any of their properties. Of course they have made bad decisions,all companies do. I am upset that they won't give ADV the license to finish out the Saint Seiya series.Jerseymilk wrote:How do you know Toei wouldn't? They've done plenty of stupid business decisions before. Like for instance actually thinking they knew enough about the NA market to start their own DVD distributing company here in which their DVDs were practically on the quality level of Hong Kong bootlegs. And then there's the fact that they won't release Sailor Stars over here because they're so terrified of jeopardizing how they've marketed the anime's merchandise to young children in other countries. Trust me, they're plenty stupid.Raki wrote:Toei wouldn't allow it.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

Ah so that's what you meant. Well that's certainly true enough. Re: Live Action Movie causing new DB series
The Sparking! openings were horrible but they're not a good judge for something of true quality. Somethng that looks like the Budokai 3 models, only 5 times more awesome, would make for a kick ass series, though.Big Momma wrote:I agree. The Sparking Openings weren't very good to me. 3D can be amazing. But just like with traditional 2D animation you have to take your time and put effort into it. And not just use the same style over and over and over and over. All the 3D movies of late have had the exact same look and feel.

The mention of rubbery special effects made me think of Saiyan armor depressing(There's a better word for that... deforming? My mind's broken...) if someone gave Vegeta a hug.
... Mainly because of that one Power Rangers episode when Zedd got pissed because his staff turned into a snake...
If an American-based DB series was produced... how long would it last? Would it be a really short crappy spinoff, or would it get enough of a following to surpass GT?
(And while we're at it: I stopped watching XMen Evolution around the time Beast showed up... did Rogue ever get her Mrs. Marvel powers? o.o.).

It would probably be like The Batman or something like that, 13 episodes per Season I think.caejones wrote:The mention of rubbery special effects made me think of Saiyan armor depressing(There's a better word for that... deforming? My mind's broken...) if someone gave Vegeta a hug.

What if, and I emphasize(?) IF, that the fans could somehow collaborate(?...I can't spell) and make the best Dragon Ball....I don't dare state the A word that ends with F.....series ever? Like we were all asked to make character designs and a script that all fans can agree on? That would be pretty cool.

Fans actually already created a liscened fan-made dojenshii. But it wasn't that good. I hope they edn up making a new series, becuase as time grows by, its harder and harder to continue being a fan of Dragonball. Its been the same thing for over 10 years, and with nothing new, its not really as enjoyable as it was years ago.Its harder to be in fandom.

I agree. Besides, I loved when Budokai 2 and 3 came out, new animated footage is always a treat! For me, that is the one redeeming factor of "Dragonball Z Saga's" and "Final Bout"'; the new footage in the intros. (Even though the new style in Saga's, Budokai 2 and 3 is a little weird). Animated intro's is the closest thing we can get to a new episode.Captain Awesome wrote:Nothing beats traditional hand drawn animation, I'm one of those guys that hates the soul-less crap Pixar and Dreamworks churn out every year.Big Momma wrote: I agree.
