That, and the fact that Piccolo was not their to avenge the murder of his people.Snail wrote:A battle between Nail and the Ginyu Force was a missed opportunity.
Trunks killing Freeza. The only way this makes sense is that the royal family got their revenge on Freeza. But the story wasn't building towards that, so it made no sense.
Rocketman touched on the SSJ thing earlier. The only thing I would like to add is that Goten and Trunks going SSJ on their own killed the whole mystique of transformation for me.
If Toriyama was going to kill off Goku, he should have NEVER came back.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

No real disappointments in the story itself. Sure, I would've loved to have seen Gohan, Goten, Trunks, and Videl be the heroes of the Buu Saga, but overall it turned out pretty nice in manga form.
What I'm disappointed in is that my favorite uncut dub of DBZ only lasted for the first three DBZ movies. Correct music, uncut, a great cast, and the picture looks really nice considering the age of the movies. Sure, there are a few translation errors but I can live with them.

One of my other biggest let downs is that we are yet to receive a full screen dub of the entire DBZ series. All we have gotten are highly edited dubs, cropped and poorly remastered dubs and a well made Ultimate Uncut release that only lasted a few sagas. All we really want are Dragonbox type releases, and yet it seems so hard!

But not for Spain, apparently.SSj_Rambo wrote:One of my other biggest let downs is that we are yet to receive a full screen dub of the entire DBZ series. Are you serious?Storm wrote:The quality of the Spanish dub actually makes me almost wish I kept learning Spanish after Spanish 2.
Almost.
I'm spanish and the dub is total crap.....
Anyway what I most disliked about DB was that most characters were just too weak and only supersaiyans could do anything in the battles. There were lots of missed opportunities for the humans to shine here and there
I would have liked to have seen that too. I touched upon that in a fan fiction, though my take was a dramatic story.Snail wrote:Another missed event that would have been hella moving; if it had occured would have to be a possible meeting between Goku, and his father if done right with the correct mood and tone and all.
Future Trunks leaving the story. Interaction between him and his other self would have been hilarious.
The Cell Games.
Super Saiyan 3.
Really, anytime someone (mainly Goku or Gohan) becomes so much more powerful that the rest of the heroes can't do anything but watch.
Pilaf and co., and also Lunch, just disappearing.

Getting those would require having a fanbase that cares. Most people don't know or care that we could be getting a superior product.SSj_Rambo wrote:One of my other biggest let downs is that we are yet to receive a full screen dub of the entire DBZ series. I always thought the whole concept of the Elder Namek unlocking Gohan's potential was a total let down. Is it just me or did that do absolutely nothing for him? I thought a major noticeable power boost was coming up, especially due to the fact that they were alluding the Elder Namek was going to release the power within Gohan that emerged when he was under much emotional stress, yet nothing comes of it in the entire Freeza saga.
Aro started to laugh. “Ha, ha, ha,” he chuckled.- Actual quote from Twilight
That Goku didn't die on Namek. That moment, especially the Japanese version, where Namek explodes would've been so much more awesome if he actually died.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

The Z-sword. Very Toriyama-esque in many ways... but we had way too many scenes of Gohan swinging it around that amounted to nothing.
(Someone please tell me that most of that was filler...
... if so it might actually have worked... )
The fact that Trunks didn't loan his time machine to someone that would go back in time and see that some universe got a compotent English dub.

That's because DBZ's intentional direction was pretty obvious with the tone of the beginning arcs.
The most disappointing thing for me for Dragon Ball is a tie: the complete shift in focus of the cast of the original Dragon Ball manga to the cast of Dragon Ball Z. I mean, Chaotzu, Tien, Yamcha, Puar, Uulong, Krillin (yes, I still call him Krillin) and much of the supporting cast (even Bulma, in comparison to her significance in Dragon Ball, got the much closer to the cutting room floor than she did before) were stiff-armed out of the plot by Piccolo, Gohan, Vegeta, and all that whatnot. I can't really complain, I was a child of the DBZ cast. I just was disappointed by it when I looked back at the series as a whole.
But what has ALWAYS disappointed me was when I began to realize that Toriyama was recycling enemies for his story arcs. Every major enemy from Frieza on had the same basis: three forms and an ego; and from there much of the plot was recycled over and over again. That simply ticked me off.
Another thing I didn't like was that there weren't enough driver's license episodes. That arc may have been short, but it was awesome.

and the whole "Earth Faries are boring maybe I should just give up drawing them completly and spend more time on the saiyans

I WANTED THE EARTH FAIRIES TO HAVE A MAJOR ROLE TOO!!! AND SAME WITH THE KIDS.

That would be so funny.Sophos wrote:Another thing I didn't like was that there weren't enough driver's license episodes. That arc may have been short, but it was awesome.
