Using logic I would agree with you. But Broly just strikes me as a very illogical character. He just seems to be as strong as whatever situation needs him to be.
That's probably why I don't like him actually. He's a pretty shallow villain. He's just a Saiyajin version of the Hulk. =/
WOAH.
Excuse me, but I take offense to that.
...The Hulk is FAR more deep as a character than Broly. =/
Also, I don't know about you guys, but the best villain in all of Dragonball as far as I'm concerned is Boss Rabbit.

Can we please not turn this into one of those, "Actually Bear Thief is the best because he was the first villain" "No, the fish was the first villain" threads, not that this thread was going anywhere anyway...

Saying that to me is like saying to someone who likes Buu "Don't turn this inot one of those 'Buu is the best because he's the last villain' threads!"
...I actually think Boss Rabbit is hilarious. So there.

=P Sorry about that. I was actually thinking about the 'getting him angry just makes him stronger' thing Broly seems to have going.
But that said, if you took Banner out of Hulk, Hulk would essentially be the Marvel version of Broly, in my opinion.

Personally, I was under the impression that Frieza was the most popular villain, he's also my personal favorite. I suppose Broly's appeal to some stems from, the subconscious urge to just want to go crazy sometimes, and wreck stuff without inhibitions, and without restrain. Cell's appeal is the exact opposite, intelligent, manipulative, and calculating, he plans out all his actions. Plus he's the combination of all the heroes' best traits, yet he's evil which is pretty neat.
Nothing beats Frieza's sarcasm, and mock polite banter though!

I thought Broly was appealing because that whole movie was basically a 'what if' scenario fulfilling the Super Saiyan legend. Revealing the apex of their race to be an unstable monster that made Freeza seem polite and quaint by comparison.
I like 'what if' situations.

I never cared much for Cell or Brolli, except for that one freaking hysterical dub line where Cell's cackling about the millions of terrified faces he'll see when he announces the Games- they he looks at Trunks and goes "Yes, just like that!"
That's just a gem. Otherwise they're simply badguys to me.

To me movie 8 was a lot like the end of the Freeza Arc with Goku's transformation. There's a big Super Saiya-jin transformation that suddenly gives the transformed person a huge advantage over his opponent and a new exaggerated feature (giant blonde hair and ridiculously huge muscles).

I liked Cell but I thought somebody like Freeza was clearly a better villain. I just hate seeing him get owned by Gohan in Movie 12 by one friggin punch. I mean how the hell could they even to that to him?
And screw Brolly.
I clearly thought that you would have used this

Be grateful the filler in Dragon Ball doesn't suck like the 3rd arc of Rurouni Kenshin.

Trunks could pretty much do that (in the manga) and Gohan had
farsurpassed Trunks by that point.

I just don't like the "Ultimate Evil" title he was given get degraded like that. I know that everybody was also stronger than they were in the Freeza arc too but it just irks me.

He WAS the ultimate evil. For the androids and Cell, the ultimate evil had to be invented by a brilliant scientist and the abilities of all our heroes and villains combined.
For the Buu saga, the most ancient evil had been lying dormant, and had to be awakened. Lots of magic involved there. An evil of universe-crushing proportions.
The fact is, though, that our heroes had gotten to the point that Frieza WOULD be a minor afterthought. It was just a fact of....how Toriyama just kept adding numbers to those power levels.

It didn't bother me as much as when SSj Kid Goku walked through Cell and Freeza in GT...but then again everything about GT bothers me.

Haha. I love that guy's voice.

That's the biggest problem with Dragon Ball (Z). Everyone just keeps getting stronger without even changing that much. It's all very straight forward. But oh well, I guess that's also part of it's charm.

Kakarrot had 20 plus years of training (5 of which was with Uub) which would naturally make his base state leagues beyond any advancement Cell or Freeza could have acquired with their Hell training.

The Saiyans are very much like the Klingons and Jem'Hadar.
