Congratulations, I was trying to come up with a Saiyan name for GTR, and this just struck me to my very core (okay, maybe not, but it's still pretty good), so I'm gonna swipe this one.The Tori-bot wrote:Barus (pronounced Baa-roos)

I made a quite a long list of various vegetables to base Saiyan names off of.. I also used name plays on veggies already taken, such as carrot and potato - but rearranged or spelled in a different way than Totapo and Kakarotto:
Popotat
Gaarot
Would the Nipponized word for fruit be "furutu"?

Just Saiyan...
I'm kinda lucky this thread popped up, since I need some help with coming up with another pun. I need a good male name that's a SALT-based pun. The race's name is Sodian (From "sodium," obviously), and the two female characters I've already come up with are Chlori ("Chlorine") and Shio (Japanese for "salt").
Any ideas? I need a good name for GTR Chapter 11, so the quicker I can come up with something, the sooner I can release it.

Well I believe salt is very limited for, as actual terms for it but there are a few other words and things that are related to its composition that are related to it. Rock salt
Table salt (no I am not talking about Vegeta’s little brother, that is why the “r” in Tarble is so important
Sea salt
White
Preservative
Fleur de sel ("Flower of salt" in French)
Halite
Potassium
The Saiyans are very much like the Klingons and Jem'Hadar.

mizugashi
I think.
NJ Star shows some other translations, kinomi or konomi.
And Google Translate comes up with... Kaputsu, Kudamono?
I don't know... I want to speak Japanese, Help me Rosetta Stone!

Sago - its the starch extracted from palm tress. It's also the name of my grandfather. I plan to use the name for one of my characters in my fanmanga.
Here are a bunch of stuff I can think of (mostly stuff I use when I cook)
Eggplant
Dates - are the fruit of the date palm
Plantain
Mango
Musa - also bananas
Beats
