Discussion regarding the entirety of the franchise in a general (meta) sense, including such aspects as: production, trends, merchandise, fan culture, and more.

I think this is a great idea. There are high schoolers who can't read and college kids who "re-re-read...l-like...th....oh, this..." So it's great. Besides, honestly, I'd rather have a book than a comic. It's weird, but I had this Batman book and I much rather read it than get a comic. Might be just me.

This is an interesting idea. I've read several book adaptions of popular movies and cartoons before, and they're usually very faithful and interesting to read. A Dragon Ball novel adaption sounds like a fantastic idea, and I bet it could be done very well.
Hell, if most kids are anything like I was at that age, it's likely to increase interest in the show itself--and that's always a good thing!

If it gets kids reading more than dialog bubbles, I think it's great. But damn, these are going to be looooongggg books. And you have to wonder if they'd take anything out, put things in, etc. Usually it's that the book comes first and then the TV show or movie sucks in comparison. NOW that the book is the very last line (after the comic and after the TV show), you have to wonder how it would be done.

This is almost as redundantly redundant animanga books that Japan was releasing. If not, more so.

Is it me or does it look like the picture of Goku on Kintoun was photoshopped onto the background?, there's some slight blurring at the points it contacts with the background.
Anyway, this makes no sense to me, kids want pretty pictures.

NOt if done well. You can do things in a prose book thatrs not possuible in animation or comics.

I'm offended by this release. DragonBall is a manga, and always will be. There's already words in it. Why replace half of Toriyama's work? However, I'm really curious how VIZ adapts the fights of the series.

A book is better in more ways than one than a comic book.

Oh Viz, when you could be releasing something we would want like more Daizenshuu, you crap a chapter book for kids down our throats.

I'd actually pick one or two of these up for the heck of it. And hey, it may not be that bad.
It's still kind of silly to release in the first place, though.
I think I'll be buying assorted Dragon Ball things for the rest of my life.

Maybe I'll pick one up just for the odd looks I'll get for reading a children's book at school.
