Everyone knows that I'm a huge fan of Dragonball. It's certainly no secret. Most my friends like it as well. I grew up with the series froma very young age and it just stuck, I guess. It's become my "thing" so to speak, and my family doesn't really care, they just give me shit for blowing money on imports and the like.

It's actually a guy in the suit.
Depends on the season and certain footage. Season 7's was on the busty side and in the US footage had an equally busty stunt-double (or one with padding). The fact she wore a revealing jungle girl outfit in pretty much every ep is also what made a lot of guys I knew said brought them back to watching PR.

I'm 25, I'm dating a girl who likes Dragonball, I have roommates that know Dragonball well enough from earlier times to get the jokes in DBZ Abridged, and I go to a college where most people mind their own business and won't openly give you shit for being a nerd.

That being said, in the commons I don't sit at the Nerd Table. I sit on the Geek Couch with the guy from 4chan, my girlfriend, some guy who looks like Brock Samson, and this one guy from my martial arts classes who likes to mimic Street Fighter and Star Wars while training because it makes people laugh.

I don't think that the guy I train with watches Dragonball religiously or anything, but I think he used to watch the dub on TV because he refers to "when [so-and-so] went Super Saiyan" a lot, fights that happened, and he knows attack names.

My girlfriend has read all of the VIZ-translated manga, has watched a lot of the dub, has seen a large portion of Dragonball Z and some of the movies in Japanese, has seen a good portion of Dragonball and all of the American-released movies in Japanese, and recently watched the new Special with me. While the love of her life with fighting manga is actually Hajime No Ippo, she is still a fan of Dragonball.

I know nothing of the 4chan guy. He just sits on his laptop with his headphones on and posts on 4chan.

I have a couple other friends who are casual fans and either own some Orange Bricks that they watch in English or know where to watch dub episodes online for free. I generally get along with them on the level of, "We're all Dragonball fans. Awesome!" When over at their houses, if they wanna watch Dragonball Z, I don't put up a fuss when they put the dub on because it's their house and whatnot and generally I can enjoy the dub when I'm with friends who watch it. I just hate it when I'm at home or whatever and can just as easily be watching it in Japanese.

My family doesn't really give a crap what I'm into as long as I still positively contribute to society. I voted for "the wrong guy" and I'm into "some weird stuff" and I "really like comics" but that's about all the know of my current interests. It isn't a big deal to them. Even if I was sitting at my mom's house reading a Dragonball comic and they asked me what it was, I could tell them and they'd just be like, "Oh. Okay," before going into the other room to play WiiFit or something.

Overall, a lot of my close friends know that I'm into Batman, Dragonball, TMNT, Street Fighter, and I occasionally dabble in Spider-Man and Wolverine stuff. But, I'm also into other things and can easily carry on conversations about things that are relevant to "mere mortals" without referencing a bunch of nerdy things. I just happen to be a normal guy who trains in martial arts and partakes in some odd hobbies in his spare time when not with friends (like reading comics). So, nobody really gives me any trouble over it.

Boyfriend: What'cha looking at...Oh fuck, your on that Dragonball forum thing again.

Girlfriend: I fucked your mother last night, just to let you know. *my typically mature response to everything*

BF: I just don't get it, didn't that series ended like, how many years ago? What's there to talk about?

GF: DBZ stuff. Mostly DBZ hentai.

BF: Really?

GF: No, not really. How's your mother by the way, sore?

BF: Alright enough about my mom. What are you going to be doing later? I might need the computer.

GF: I'm thinking about drawing some sketches for my fancomic.

BF: Oh, your actually going through with that. I thought you were joking. That's kind of sad you know.

GF: I draw comics all the time. Suddenly DBZ stuff is beneath me? As if I haven't prove to you yet my level of Nerdom these past few years we've known each other. Have you seen my room filled to the brim with comic books, graphic novels, and manga? Have I not watched the Dark Knight 3 times in iMax theaters? Do I not own Bruce Timm and Paul Dinni's autograph comic book Mad Love and Batman TAS DVD's? Do you remember Comic Con?!

BF: Please don't remind me.

GF: You're still going to see the Dragonball Movie with me, right?

BF: As if I have a choice.

(Wash and repeat about once every week)

And you are posting in this thread because...?

Anyway, my parents just... I dunno, tolerate it? They don't lean one way or the other. I get quite a bit of DB stuff for Christmas from them, even some stuff I don't ask for (like those god-awful "How to Draw Dragon Ball Z" books). Ah, shit, that reminds me! I should've put Daizenshuu 1 on my Christmas list! Dammit!

My friends are not aware of its existance. :P
New to the forum? Just want to know when you'll hit your next posting rank? Ever wondered why some users have special titles, and what they mean? The answers to all these questions and more are waiting for you in the Kanzenshuu Member Hierarchy Guide!!

I get my parents to watch it with me on occasion, mainly because I don't have a TV in my room anymore, but alas. I also watch One Piece with my ma.

Yeah.

Well, my brother and sister are fully aware that I like this series A LOT, but we don't really talk much about it. When they want to embarrass me they usually tend to bring up "you still watch cartoons (anime)" in general.

My brother used to be a big fan like me but he got addicted to an MMO and that's why it kinda died with him. Now he just thinks I'm being childish and doesn't get why I'm still addicted. My sister really doesn't care.

My father always watched DBZ with us when we were younger but now he doesn't realize that I'm still a big fan of the series. Sometimes he actually brings it back up like "Remember that show we always used to watch?" And I will always say... "...Yup, I do" :P He clearly has no idea that I devote most of my time to it. XD

Anyway, friends of mine who are into anime just ignore because I still like it, and not watch the "cool new" animes like Naruto and Bleach. Sometimes people just seem to hate the show (undoubtedly they've only watched the english version) and think I never watched any other anime because then it would be natural for me to dislike it too. :/ Meh, idiots..

I have one friend who likes Dragonball as much as I do, we still regularly play Budokai 3.. well, Infinite World, as it is now. Apart from that, my friens acknowledge it, but don't really pay it any attention, except the odd dig or two. My family are also aware, and will often ask what I'll be spending this months work pay on, and guessing it'll be Dragonball figures or games (Annoyingly enough, they're almost always right).
I've almost sucessfully gotten the Dragonball trojan horse through my girlfriends gate.. wait, lemme rephrase that.
My girlfriend now plays the video games, and knows the character names, but has not yet read the manga, or seen much of the series. She just seems to think people screaming and turning blonde is pretty badass.

And it's worth noting that, in Sentai, there's about an equal chance that Yellow is a male as there is it's a female. Like Tiger Ranger (who was made a female in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers) was a boy named... Boi. ... Actually, most PR seasons made by Saban had a male Yellow they made female. The practice seems to have ceased after Disney took over, though. Incidently, Maya in Lost Galaxy was also originally a man.

And my family's kinda exasperated by my love for comic and Japanese stuff, but just seem content to leave me to my own devices. Hell, mom occasionally tries to atleast feign interest.

Typical.

I forgot to say earlier that I buy the American Shonen Jump every month(When it would be a lot cheaper to just subscribe...hmm..maybe I should.) and my father usually picks it up and reads it.

Nobody cares that I like DBZ. Most of my friends who do like anime (not many left these days) think of it as a "starter anime," one you use to get people into anime but then you realize it's not that great.

Well whatever. I've seen plenty of better drawn/animated anime, etc. But Dragonball is STILL my favorite!

But like I said, not many people I know in real life care about DBZ or anime anymore. :(

Yeah, my family sorta kinda just accepts my fandom, and that's about it. Unless I have my own money, I have to convince them to buy Dragonball related stuff. No one else in my family likes Dragonball as much as I do. Everyone else I know also just accepts that.

I get that, I don't buy video games ever, but my brothers always do. Sometimes I just sort of hint that the next Dragon Ball game looks awesome and very well done, and show off how much you can do in them, ya know, trying to get them to buy it rather than me, because Video games are more or less a waste of money to me.

Of course they never buy the Dragon Ball games, but I guess that's better since everyone always seems to have trouble with them.
