Trap! I'm calling a trap!

This may just be me...but Goku doesn't seem like the kind of person who would say d**k, but this is a parody series. Even at this age, I can see him saying balls or weiner. But again, this is a para-I mean, retelling. :D

Anyway, this seems pretty neat. I've been told I'm a funny guy by my friends, but it's not the kind of thing you can just write out. A lot of time, humor is in the delivery.

But let's see...

-When Goku first meets Roshi in GT, Roshi uses a "That's what she said" joke. Then,

Goku: That's what who said?
Roshi: It's a joke, Goku, you wouldn't-
Goku: It wasn't a very funny joke. Hey! I know a joke! Why did the chicken fly the-no, that's not it. Why was it too far to fly-no, that's not...
Roshi:(While Goku continues to try in the background)....
Goku: (Gives up on the joke, and they both stand awkwardly staring at each other).
Roshi: ...
Goku:...so, what was her name?
Roshi: It was a joke, Goku! You wouldn't get it!
Goku: I'll bet I would, try me!
*Cut to a black screen with the text "3 MINUTES LATER"*
Goku: (Staring blankly at Roshi)...(Then he smiles) Oh, I GET IT! HAHAHA!
Roshi: Goku, you're impossible...
Goku: That's what she said!
Roshi: *sigh*
Goku: That's what she said!

Then, throughout the series, Goku will continue to try using that joke at various points, but only to fail. Then, sometimes someone will say a really good one, and he won't get it.

Well, that's the best I can do on the spot. :D

EDIT: What program did you use to edit that opening?

Big Momma, that was pretty good!
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
Yeah, we could always replace dick, cock, other words to describe that part of the body, with wiener, balls.

I agree with bkev, that's awesome! If Innagadadavida agrees, welcome aboard.

I don't know what Innagadadavida uses to edit, he'll probably be able to answer that when he replies.

I've made a few fake stand-up videos with friends at school in my day, so I like to think I'm funny. I've even got a shiny mic and everything. ;)
Fine, I'll quit as Goku.

But in all serious, I think my Kid Goku voice is decent for a guy, who's 15 and has already gone through most of puberty, I'm past the phase of cracking voice and I might be at my "adult voice" but, I'm not the one to judge that.

The reason I love DBZ abridged is that they don't just use the characters as vehicles for random jokes, sure they toss a few in there, but the majority of the humour comes from poking fun at the show and the characters themselves. This is where 99% of abridged series fail in my eyes, the characters are nothing but soul-less orifices who's only purpose is to vomit up as much inane random "humour" as possible.

Anyway I'm looking forward to seeing what you guys come up with especially after seeing Innagadadavida's little skits, I just hope you don't fall victim to the wanna-be Family Guy syndrome that seems to plague all fan parodies these days.

That's a very good point. I watched GT episode 1 last night and jotted down maybe 15 outlines for humorous bits, but then I realized that a few of them were terribly out of character. I've been watching too much It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia lately. I'll have some samples ready this weekend.

I can do a pretty decent Funi-Vegeta, but I kind of need to perfect it, if I did, I could do some Vegeta lines for whenever he shows up.

Everyone who wants a voice part, it would be best if you recorded your voice first then posted them, rather than telling us about your talent. It's not that I don't believe you, it's just that there are other variables involved such as acting ability, delivery, ext. Things that we can only determine by actually listening.

I like that a lot, if you're interested in helping out with the script, let us know.

What program did you use to edit that opening?
Sony Vegas. It's a great program especially for the price. Well, when you compare it to other "professional" video editors.
I also used Photoshop for those bits where the characters popped out.

Okay, so, I've been trying to upload my audition (made in Windows Movie Maker) to MegaUpload. And I have one question:

What does "The project file is in use by another program" mean? What did I do wrong? Whenever I click the "Download" button on MegaUpload, it asks me if it wants me to open it (clicked "Yes") it loads for a second (it's 82.5kb) and then WMM pops up with the above message.

Can somebody help, please? ^^;

Try saving the file and closing WMM before uploading it?

You are uploading the project file which won't work on other people's computer. Go to file>Save Move File

This will export your clip as a WMV video file (if it has footage) or a WMA audio file (if it's only sound).

Thanks a lot, Innagada! Here's my audition! :D

Goku = (He's already been cast, but I can dream, can't I? :P) I didn't try to do MasakoX's Goku voice, but he was certainly an influence. And since there's a tiny chance he might be playing adult Goku, we'd need some continuity. ;)

Yi Xing Long = I knew right away that he would need a really silly, high-pitched, annoying voice (kinda like #19 in the dub...), so that's what I did. And I thought it'd be funny if he and Goku had a conversation about it. :P

Don Kia = Flaming homosexual. The end. :P

I only kinda semi-auditioned Goku, but I needed him for the "conversation", and I figure if there's a chance I can get SSJ4Furanki fired, why not? :P

Oh, by the by, I did all of this on the fly, with no preparation or script. And this is my first time trying something like this. Please be gentle. ^^;

Also, while this was done by the seat of my ass, I did have to do a few retakes, so it's not completely unscripted, so... ah, who am I kidding, it's still completely unscripted. :P

EDIT: Now that I listen to it, I should've put more energy into Goku's last line. Ah well.

Yeah, I hope we don't fall victim to Family Guy syndrome either. Family Guy's an okay show, but it's not my first choice of a comedy show to watch/make. I'm a South Park/Futurama type of humor fan.

I hope this turns out good. Whoo.

I'm way too busy to be a regular writer for this, but I can definitely try to get some things in when I can. And what Captain Awesome said was true, we need to poke fun at the series/characters, and use jokes that only fans would get. Not all the time, but enough.

I just thought up a couple lines.

*Goku meets Don Kia*
Villain: Who are you?!
Goku: Really?! I'm the freakin' antagonist! Can't you see my spikey hair and my upbeat Shonen attitude!

I literally just thought that up, so...whatever. ;)
