There's also merchandise that used "Son Gokou"...
Plus there's tons of differently romanized stuff used in the show itself, like Kulilin.
My favorite movie henchman is Sancho.

Finished watching the discs yesterday, but got caught up in watching Season 3 of Dexter that I didn't have time to comment on it until now. Anyway, here's what I'm thinking about post-Dragon Box 5 life:

I enjoyed the Cell Games and the conclusion of the Artificial Human conflict overall. I'll always think the circumstances under which Cell returns from Goku teleporting him out of there are highly bogus and undermine just how epic the conclusion could have been, but I think his fight with Gohan is fairly well done seeing how he was allowed to become perfect by Vegeta due to Vegeta's pride as a Saiyan warrior leading him to want to face Cell at his strongest. Cell essentially plays the same card by forcing Gohan into the Super Saiyan 2 transformation, so it's poetic justice to see the tables turned on him in such a way. As always, the "Father-Son Kamehame-Ha" moment is great and much more moving when it's done here than it is later in the second Broli movie.

The Anoyoichi Tournament is great fun and parts of it take me back to the good natured, less epic feel of Dragon Ball. The other Kaio-sama characters are a welcome introduction into the series for me. I remember watching the episode where Gohan first attends Orange Star High back when I personally was just starting my freshman year of high school, so I'll always have a sentimental connection to that episode. It really took me back. And for the first time I think I really came to appreciate the early episodes of Gohan and Videl's friendship. I think their pairing is executed far better than Goku and Chichi's, not that they aren't a good match... I just think as more time overall is spent on Gohan and Videl, it comes off a little better.

While I was never really a fan of the Majin Boo Saga, I must say I'm really looking forward to the next release and am happy that it's coming out in July and not any later. The Dragon Box has really changed my opinion of parts of the show I didn't particularly enjoy before, maybe because I'm older now and the show is a great escape from the pressures of what we call "real life." Looking forward to the Tournament, all the new characters (good and evil), Goku and Vegeta Round 2, and the Super Saiyan 3 episode in the next box. I don't think it will quite get to Gotenks, but I can wait until Box 7 for that.

Anyone know any b&m stores that are selling this today?
I wanted a mission, and for my sins, they gave me one.

I live miles & miles away from the nearest brick and mortar store, so I can't confirm anything. Best Buy has been carrying these, though, so they should have it on the shelf. You could also call your local stores and ask someone to check on the availability.

The odd thing is, I haven't managed to sit down and watch any of latest Boxes despite investing in multiple copies of each. Life tends to get in the way, not to mention that I pretty much know what to expect quality-wise after watching Vol. 1. It ain't as though I don't know how the story goes where I need to tear them open the moment I get 'em. ;p

I will say, I do love the design of the 5th volume in particular.

Same here. If I need to check something, I'll pop a disc in. Other than that, I'm waiting for the greatest marathon ever. (Some people will inform you that marathons involving actual running are much more significant. They are fools.)

It all looks good. lol I did pre-order mine months ago but unfortunately had to cancel it due to some money problems, one reason being the Earthquake that hit our city (Christchurch) two months ago.

Just a quick question. Does Right Stuf still ask for a photo of your card for international byers?

They only ask you if you're making your first purchase, but after that, they won't ask again.

Can I just say I freakin' love the artwork on this box set. The Dragon Book cover and the disc art is wonderful!

I wish they took the breaks into account or resized the spine art, though. Goku's got Yajirobe's proportions as it is.

I'm confused. You're all saying that there is no insert song in the scene when Gohan becomes SSJ2? Why is that?
Even if it was missing from the brick sets, why not add it now to Dragon Box, which is the definitive Dragon Ball release outside of Japan? :? It really seems plain dumb to me. I mean, it is a fundamental part of the series and has a strong emotional impact on the scene in particular...

Because Toei didn't give them the proper masters. This is why most international dubs of Dragon Ball or Dragon Ball Z don't retrain insert songs.

Yeah, it's in the Japanese track. The dub, on the other hand, doesn't have the insert songs because apparently FUNi never obtained clean versions of them. It's annoying as sin but can't blame FUNi for Toei's ridiculousness.

Wait, so if I watch my box with the Japanese track, the song is there, just not on the English dub, is that so? Because I can definitely live with that. :P
