Am I the only one hoping for this to turn into Dragon Ball's "Rebuild" series, a la Evangelion?
I know, I'm 99% sure it's not the case as well lol. I wondering if this will be, in some way, kind of a sequel to the 2008 Jump Special? Ya know, Tarble with the gang and stuff.
(Trying so hard to hide the excitement right now
)

Expecting something of the 2008 OVA quality. I wish we got something more along the lines of Namek-saga serious business, where the DBs were still central to the plot, but if Goten and Trunks are involved expect clowning around.

Dragon Ball has way too much content to cover to be done in Rebuild style films.

A rumour involving Buu's arc reminds me of those still awaiting for a Kai Buu arc version, so I'd despise this rumour, though the rest is semi-true (new animated film + Toriyama Akira involved).

It could be like most movies that are based on TV shows like Lost in Space and Kamen Rider: The First where it's a remake of the original show but with minor changes.

I could live without any Boo saga remake or Kai stuff. To be frank, I want something new, not the same old story told again. I wish it would be something involving Oob, Pan, Goten and Trunks, something that would be during GT but in a different canon.

Great, so they might be Buu Kai'ing all over this movie.
Not a huge fan of Goten and Trunks or the Buu saga, but hey, I'm still excited.

Doesn't "Toriyama is heavily involved with the script" usually translate to "Toriyama designed these new characters?"
I'm not sure if he was "heavily involved" in the 2008 OVA.

Well breaking down the rumors I honestly believe that this isn't a remake of any kind. Why would Toriyama need to be 'heavily involved' in a remake? If it was a remake he'd most likely just be supervising.
I'm pretty sure this is probably a new story involving Kid Truhks and Goten and most likely also involving a new villain that Toriyama probably created.

The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

He plotted it, so yes, he was heavily involved.
The issue with what "Toriyama's involvement" means mostly stems from the fact that certain people translate credits incorrectly, crediting him as "writer" for things where his involvement was just "he didn't say no to this thing's creation" and god knows what else.

I think the 2008 Jump Special was based on a story that he wrote? The chances are this is another story idea that he had in mind or could be like GT where he only design the characters. We really need more info before we can start judging on this film.
