Was that stuff in the comic? I constantly see people complaining that Crystal is terrible because they compare it to the other anime and not the comic.
It was. The old anime was quite a bit more slapsticky than the manga, but the manga had its good share of funny expressions that Crystal really ruin several scenes by removing.
Crystal is supposedly aimed at the now-adult original generation of fans that no longer read shojo manga and have little interest in the more childish comedic aspects of them, so the anime eliminates this and treats it more like something made for an adult audience.

Which is frustrating to me as an adult because a big part of what I liked about the original Sailor Moon anime was the slapstick/gags/sd-facial-expressions. Without the humor, the series loses some of its flavor.
If Toei thinks "adult" means "serious business" and "no fun ever", then I'm glad they still target younger with DB.

I agree, and it's a bit of a shame, yeah, but the series isn't aimed at "adults who like Sailor Moon", but "women in their 30s who don't read children's comics, but who kind of remember the franchise from when they were children"...
It's kind of like what Michael Bay did with Transformers, except it's for adult women who enjoy romance stories instead of for young adult men who enjoy stupid violence and explosions. Purely a "hey, remember this thing you liked when you were 8? We've retooled it for your current age demographic!" thing.

While I'm in my twenties, I can still understand. It makes me feel sad though, because imo, there's something ironically immature about the idea that you can't have some levity in a show aimed at adults. There are so many shows for adults out there that can balance serious and comedy, why couldn't Crystal be one of them. I do get the banking on nostalgia, I do know it works, though it makes the end product seem hollow, imo.
I'd never want to be the type of adult who thinks she's too mature for humor. Getting bored with a show is one thing, but ridding it of parts of itself to make it look more "grown-up" just feels disingenuous to the series original appeal.
I get what Toei is trying to do, I just don't like it.

Interesting quote from Toei Animation's 2015 Quarter 3 IR report:
In TV Anime, revenues rose sharply due to an increase in the number of new titles aired (from five to seven).
This makes me wonder if Toei is going to keep this production method continuing. It will be interesting to see if they maintain all of their slots currently in use by spring 2015.

Sorry to quote this again, but I just realized what bugged me about this. It's not just that he's 5. He's also the audience surrogate character for this part of the series. Goku may be the main character, but a good portion of this story seems to be told from Gohan's point of view.
Hmm, I suppose so, but Gohan kind of exits the story at that point anyway. He doesn't really participate into the plot again until the Cell Games.
Couldn't find any information or an Artemis VA. Guess we'll see if Kappei Yamaguchi reprises or not.

During Otacon, when they aired a couple of random episodes of Classic Sailor Moon with new English dub, and in one of them, when Umino described Ami IQ, he said that it's over 9000... really?

i've heard it was just temporary ad-lib, and i hope it is true, that meme died few years ago.

That's silly. I've watched a few clips of the redub out of curiosity (Kate Higgins sounds great as Ami) but I rarely watch ever watch dubs these days. I think the only Viz Dub I saw in all of its entirety was their InuYasha dub, oh and Fatal Fury films if that counts.
More importantly, they never do good adaptation of Furuya characters. Dub Yamcha is a disgrace.

I want one day, one country to go the Japanese route and have the same guy voice Tuxedo Mask, Seiya and Yamcha (heck, have him dub Amuro as well).

Don't Mamoru and Seiya have the same VA in Portugal (which is where you are according to your profile)? Not sure about Yamcha though.
A few times the Japanese route has been done though. Richard Ian Cox dubbed Kappei Yamaguchi's Ranma and InuYasha, for example.

Yeah, Rogério Jacques dubbed both of them, too bad he didn't work in Dragon Ball. But yes, I love when a dub does it, some dubs of Digimon realized that the seiyuu who did Mimi's voice also sang the ending and made the dub mimic that aspect.

Ted Cole could have all three of them off, IMO.
Anyway,
the two voice actors that are famous for appearing in both DBZ and SM will be at a convention in Atlanta, Georgia soon.
Of course there are a few others who notably appeared in both, such as Toshio Furukawa and Katsuji Mori playing villains, and Ryō Horikawa as a one-off characters.

Very good to know. :3
Episode 3 is notoriously in need of fixes, especially 'I have nothing else to do anyway.' Usagi. @_@

And I'm glad Toriyama did get on board and essentially take over the story from the previous writer. The older version of BOG sounded way too much like the Garlic Jr or Bebi arcs, and Gokû does not need a cape.

Hmm, glad to know they are fixing the animation in the Blu-Ray release. Didn't expect that, to be honest. Sad that they skipped the Gender Bender scene in Makoto's debut.
Also, I did some research and DB is around 519 chapters. Since the common trend tends to adapt 3 weekly chapters for an episode, that would make a remake of Toriyama's manga around 173 episodes. Yet it looks like Kai will be around that length while skipping all the pre-Raditz material. Makes me even more dissapointed in Kai.

They took out Mamoru helping Usagi healing the town.
On-topic, hasn't DBZ technically been reanimated through all those new video games?

Cut-scenes in Ultimate Tenkaichi were really nicely animated, and i don't understand, why they didn't do same thing with Kai? I like to believe, that it was some sort of experiment, to see, if the can pull out remake that is just re-cut of original anime, but Kai flopped in sales, so Toei decided to make new animations from now on, too bad, that it was Dragon Ball who was chosen as guinea pig.
