And the kicker is it starts airing before the live action movie premieres in the U.S. by only a couple days. :3

This is great! I believed Wisher the whole time.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
Your medal will be on its way to you soon. :P

This is why I'm horribly non-commital on these things. What did everyone randomly shouting "I believe this guy is telling the truth, for no real reason" or "I believe this guy is a total liar, for no real reason" achieve in the end? Facts prevail!

I'm a little excited, but not overly so. I mean, I've seen Raditz die, Goku die, Nappa break his back, Vegeta kill Kiwi, Goku turn Super Saiyan, Artifical Humans breaking Vegeta's arm, Gohan getting the torch, Gohan getting the torch taken away and Goku firing off a Genki Dama already.

Unless some of these supposedly 100-ish episodes suddenly has Yamucha or Tenshinhan push everyone aside and start giving monologues, I don't really care that much.

As far as this seems this is probably gonna be like a Mobile Suit Gundam movie. Except that the series itself is doable in 100 episodes. I just hope that nothing really gets rushed or stuff that was important in the original series gets cut is my only problem.
Be grateful the filler in Dragon Ball doesn't suck like the 3rd arc of Rurouni Kenshin.

Hmm.

It's easy enough to really trim the Saiyan and Freeza arcs down to around 50-ish episodes, or even less should it warrant it. After that, it should be easy enough to pack in the Cell arc too. It's squeezing in the Buu arc into 25 episodes or so that might take some doing.

This sounds extremely interesting. There are still too many episodes of Z I haven't seen though. I'll have to finish my season 2 set(I just couldn't get through it but that happens with all my anime dvds) and get the rest of the season sets when I get the chance. I need a job, badly.

Somebody on the ToonZone forums brought up an interesting point.

What about Gregory? He can't be edited out by recutting the series; he appears in nearly every Kaio scene. Wouldn't re-animating certain things be required in situations like this?

Couldn't they just edit him out if they had to?

I wonder what they are going to do about tenshinhan's voice. Are they going to replace it, or just leave the voice how it was in the original series?

I think they'd have to replace him.

If they are making the audio better, I think they would have to redo it all, as it would be too noticeable to have the old audio and new audio in the same scenes.

Maybe they'll keep him. Cutting down to 100 episodes doesn't necessarily mean removing every bit of anime-only content. This isn't "The Daizex Edition", after all. Gregory's getting chased bit could be cut down to a minute or two, and they'd stilll have taken out a good amount of content.

I feel confident in saying that I will be devestated if this franchise ever does die.

No, it's going to lead to Blu-Ray. They aren't remastering it in 1080p for nothing.

Not only would it be tragic if the franchise died, but this has got to be leading to legitimate Blu-Ray releases (not FUNi's). Then we can spend another couple thousand on the Blu-Ray release. Yay, money.

Maybe I've just gotten tired of it despite still being a fan, but I can't believe how milked it's been.

After reading further posts, I'm more optimistic about this now, seeing the series trimmed down would be great.

In a moment of insanity this idea struck me like lighting; what if the Blu Ray DBZ's FUNimation are preparing is actually the new Toei version?!...
