I mean the issues released in November and December. VJump officially labels them January and February even though they publish two months prior. I know someone else explained it earlier in the thread.Avenged wrote:You keep saying November and December issues but the December issue has already released.

? You mean like a trailer for the film? The film isn't released yet if that's what you're asking...MCDaveG wrote:Is there any film at all?

I rather meant, if it isn't some huge HOAX or conspiracy, that the movie won't even exist.singsing wrote:? You mean like a trailer for the film? The film isn't released yet if that's what you're asking...MCDaveG wrote:Is there any film at all?
They will release teaser and then, nothing, even a word.

It doesn't exist yet. It probably hasn't been in animation for very long, given how busy Toei Animation has been this year.

Huh. Goku's back to wearing no kanji.

In that trailer. Which uses nothing that will be in the actual movie.Travis Touchdown wrote:Huh. Goku's back to wearing no kanji.

But yeah, it's the nature of these sorts of teaser trailers to do nothing apart from give some form of broad outline of the feature, which in this case is nothing more than a visual confirmation of the existence of the project, a proposed release date (or week) and a loose indication of a premise that involves a wish to revive someone.
We'll get a theatrical trailer by February at the latest. Keep in mind that building up as much hype as possible ahead of a release is very much part of Toei's game plan. By announcing the film and teasing it, they know they've already captivated the hardcore demographic - they'v got us, we're hooked. Drumming up enthusiasm from the wider markets they want to tap into is something that is better done nearer the release date, as the attention span and enthusiasm of the casual fan is invariably smaller.
It's also worth keeping in mind that following Battle of God's promotion cycle too closely is unlikely to reveal much as to what we can expect, given that Toei's hand was forced ahead of their planned reveals a couple of times due to leaks and that they have undoubtedly changed their marketing strategy based on whatever trends they gleaned from the previous promotional campaign. Battle of Gods did quite well for Toei, but it's no exaggeration to say that, domestically at least, they hoped for it to do a little bit better than it eventually did. Perhaps they felt that the omnipresent marketing campaign they undertook with much mainstream exposure and numerous commercial tie ins may have played against them somehow. Brand fatigue is real.

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread
Well they said they set a goal for it making ¥3 billion and it did end up making exactly ¥3 billion so it should have made what they hoped.
Unless they actually hoped for more but just said ¥3 billion as a safety net encase it failed to meet expectations.
The movie did do well but for how popular the series was supposed to be over there with it previously being the best selling manga of all time and the godfather of shonen it should have made more than the umpteenth Pokemon and Detective Conan movie.

Well if Goku doesn't have kanji again, at least we won't have minor errors like in the first round agaisnt Beerus, where in some shots he didn't have it.

It's not clear if that was meant as a domestic gross target or worldwide gross target. If domestic, it certainly fell some way short.Bullza wrote:Well they said they set a goal for it making ¥3 billion and it did end up making exactly ¥3 billion so it should have made what they hoped.

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread
It was a domestic target. When the movie came out Oricon compared it's box office to One Piece Film Z to say they projected it'd surpass the ¥3 billion target that was set.
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread
Someone updated (though it looks behind the scenes unless someone finds something I missed) the dragonball2015 website four days ago. I guess I'd stopped checking without realizing I'd stopped because nothing was happening.
I feel I should mention this is the first time that official movie website has been updated since late July.

Hopefully they're preparing for something new to be released so updated the site accordingly?
